  • Caterina, I hope you health worry is just that and within the next week or so you will have things resolved, for the better.

Families are difficult aren't they, my Step dad who has been with me for the last 31 years won't even allow me to mention my biological Father's name in his presence and when I remarried in 2011, step dad and Brother refused to come to the wedding as my biological Dad was going and because u refused to take sides, they didn't speak to me for 2 years! Mum passed away in 2004 and my Brother has learning difficulties and is disabled so still lives with my Step Dad and he constantly says to me 'I could tell you the truth about your Dad', when will he ever understand that what went on with biological Dad & Mum is nothing to do with me and I am not interested! When DH lost his Mum in 2011 (2 months after we married), it left DH and his DB, no other family as parents were only children but DH hasn't heard from DB since Christmas of the same year and we have no idea why?

Cranky40, so pleased to hear you are feeling better :j

Popped into Ald!'s at 8am when they opened this morning and had to que to get in the store  I spent £43 but it will mean I don't have to go shopping next week as we now have enough in again for about 14 days. Managed to get 2 packs of fresh lemons, a swede, some onions and a Savoy cabbage which were 49p each. DD drinks green tea and loves it with a slice of lemon in but when I ran out earlier in the week I popped into Tesc0's and paid 39p for 1  my best buy though was a hand held steam cleaner which was £15.99 reduced to £8.99 in Ald!'s and I have been looking at getting one for a while now so very pleased.

Got to put the Hoover around downstairs today and pester DD to clean the rabbits out when she returns home at 1pm. Eldest DD is bringing her rabbit back with her today as she doesn't like leaving him on his own for too long so we will have 3 house rabbits by the end of today! :rotfl:

Dinner tonight will be Fajitas as I have some sad looking peppers just waiting to be used up and that way everyone can just help themselves when I have cooked it.

I hope you all have a lovely day x
  • Caterina sorry to hear about your DD, hopefully time will help heal :grouphug:

Yesterday was so far from a nsd :(

My mil came over and we went out to the new shopping centre for lunch, I felt obliged to pay as she payed last time, $27 for 2 s/wichs, 2 coffees, a juice and a fruit salad

Another $16 at the supermarket but that was planned so I don't feel so bad about it and it came out of my grocery kitty anyway.

Not too sure what today holds, will try and make it a nsd but I know we're going to our cadet unit sausage sizzle so I'm thinking not.

Just a observation, yesterday I asked my mil to keep her empty jars for me as I want to make and gift fruit mince for xmas and she suggested I could go to Kmart and buy some as they're only $1 ea. Yes its cheap and before I probably would of but wanting to be OS I would rather reuse jam jars etc

    Happy Saturday everyone

    Good evening,

thank you all for your kind words.

Villagelife good news re your heating working again, not a minute too soon with the weather turning rather cold!

Cranky I am glad you are feeling better. Hope you are fully recovered soon.

Ginny thank you for the link, I shall have a look, Peckham is not too far from me.

MOS you are so right, families can be difficult and unpredictable. I really miss not having a warm and united family, but I have DH and DS still here with me, and my dear Aunts and cousins in Italy, so my estrangement from my mother and siblings is not too hard. It is harder to accept DD's distance but I hope that time will heal our relationship.

Amandaatnumber7 I hope you will share the fruit mince recipe, please.

Good day, the herbal clinic supervisor reassured me somewhat so I feel a bit more positive while waiting for the tests.

Then the rest of the day went as planned and now I am tucked in bed and very sleepy, good night all.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Caterina pleased you are feeling abit more positive about your health issues and hope the results arrive quickly.

Imanaged eventually to buy a photo album but it wasn't that easy to find one as it had to be suitable for a 21 year old boy and to be self adhesive rather than having the pockets. If I had been looking for a girl there would have been a vast choice.

I did manage to do some planting in the garden and there were less rabbit holes to fill in.

I cleaned most of the house so today I need to do bathroom well and thats it for the cleaning.

Today I am going hopefully to meet a friend and then home and potter and cook I think before other friend arrives early evening.

    Good morning,

Villagelife there seems to be so much stationery and stuff for girls and so little for boys in the shops, I have noticed over the years, having a boy and girl twins. Another thing I found difficult to find is unisex cards, if you want to send say a new baby congratulations card, they are all pink or blue. Glad you found a suitable album.

Today I hope to have a NSD. Not sure about the weather yet but if it is dry I would like a walk in the park, then I shall make lunch (light one after yesterday's pizza and trifle, and tonight outing).

This afternoon DH is planning some more (interminable) DIY, I hope to persuade him to put up the new curtain rails and curtains, at least in the bedroom, so I will give the bedroom a good cleanup, long overdue.

Tonight mystery shop dinner in town, I looked at the menu online and it sounds really nice. We can have 2 courses each, good so DH will not tempt me with pudding. And we are allowed a drink each. The money I pay is going to be refunded so I can still count it as a NSD.

    Have a good OS day.

  • Morning :coffee:

Its only 9am but we've been up since 5am so I'm ready to go back to bed lol

Yesterday I ended up back at the supermarket because we had run out of dog food, but it comes out of my kitty so its not too bad. Each week I have my budget for food but I try not to spend all of it so I build up a kitty for things I've forgotten and for when items go on sale and I can stock up. I find this way makes it easier for me when I want to pick up the specials from a different supermarket from where I usually shop too

My OS sunday is going to include some baking and a trip to the nursery but hubby has vouchers so it could to turn out to be a nsd after all

Caterina I'm more than happy to share my fruit mince recipe, I can post it here or pm you :)

    Good morning,

Amandaatnumber7 please post it here, I shall alert the Grocery Challenge people so they can transfer it to the recipe list and everybody can enjoy it! Thank you.

Yesterday was a NSD. Rainy weather so I spent it in pinny and slippers, hovering around my men who were hard at work putting up the rails for the curtains in the bedroom. Eventually I got fed up of asking if I could be of any help and went to bake treats for all (cheesy scones for lunch and banana cake for dinner). Finally I have proper curtains!

I am very happy that they fit perfectly lengthwise. Widthwise they could have done with a few more pleats as the stretch across the bay window is rather wide, but overall they look really good and make my bedroom look like a real grownup bedroom! They are lined but not heavy so some light from the streets filters through, which I like. I would hate blackout curtains, really dislike sleeping in total darkness. They were very reasonably priced, in Dunelm.

I am also glad that a good friend and OSer has claimed the old Roman blinds for the rods and rings. She might even be able to use some of the fabric, although it is rather worn.

Today tai chi, followed by visit to an elderly friend, then lunch and work with the boys. No babysitting tonight for which I am grateful as I will spend a nice evening at home with DH and DS and no big rush to cook dinner in between jobs.

Hoping for another NSD if all goes to plan.

    Have a good OS day.

  • caterina, how lovely it must be to finally have your curtains up :j

Ginnyknit, fantastic bargain from the shops. It's a lovely feeling having things done for Christmas already.

I had a lovely weekend with a house full of young adults so lots of love and laughter here. DD1 was upset on Friday night as she is really missing home and didn't want to go back but by Sunday we had chatted more about where she will rent next year and as both of them hate being in London and DD's BF is under consultation for redundancy they have spoken about moving back to where we live and renting. Eldest DD feels that will help her with the home sickness. Youngest DD was in and out all weekend but she had a lovely weekend too.

Today has been a quiet one for me as exhausted by the weekend so a quick dinner of egg, chips and tinned hotdogs :o

I seem to have spent a large part of today wiping condensation from the windows and this perplexes me somewhat as I have a dehumidifier running downstairs, the temperature is about 20/21 degrees and I always have the small kitchen window open in the day so not really sure why I keep getting it?

DH and I are getting an evening out and on our own this weekend and I can't remember the last time this happened as any spare cash/time we get is given to our DD1 to help with her Uni costs etc so really looking forward to this weekend. Youngest DD is getting her BF over to cook for her and he is planning a vegetarian chilli, it will be lovely I am sure but not sure what sort of mess I will come home to!

Right, the kitchen is calling me so best go and give it a wipe over. I hope you all have a lovely evening x
