Im here but my head is on automatic pilot today :o Had very little sleep due to my mind being in overdrive - thats the problem with being a carer with an active mind - not enough mental stimulation.

Picked up playkitchen yesterday, 4 little units for Dgs's Christmas gift and it was free :j the local play group was throwing it away but a friend rescued it. It needs a bit of Tlc and a bowl so now Dd and I are looking for little pots and pans etc in the Cs's.

Spent a very few pounds in £land and B&M this morning. Love the fact that Jane Asher does a range for £ shop and everything is so cute. I got chocolate moulds in the shape of teapots and cups and small cookie cutters (xmas tree kind of things). B&M do 75% cocoa solids chocolate very cheaply.

Everyone is getting chocolates, fudge, biscotti and shortbread teddy bears in hampers. Along with beer for the boys and a load of gingerbeer cans made into a cake shape( like those nppy cakes) - oooh pinterest is sooo good.

  • Evening All,

A very busy day for me today (will pay for it tomorrow) but managed to move all the living room furniture and Hoover behind it, wash living room net curtains and windows, take of the silicone sealant from 2 windows, a patio door and part of the shower and the best bit.....I redid the silicone myself :j

This evening has been spent making DD's Birthday cake, not quite as I wanted in terms of decoration but I am sure it will taste lovely and she will be pleased.

Dinner tonight was lamb chops that I bought from one of the supermarkets already frozen but they were really disappointing, not very much meat on them at all so I won't be buying them again.

We have a meal out with everyone tomorrow night and we said we were paying for all (there are 11 of us going) but my Dad has very kindly given us £125 towards it and we got £20 Ask vouchers through Tesco's so hoping we don't have to pay too much more, the meal out is for DD's Birthday so I don't really mind how much it costs. I lost my Mum 10 years ago when she was 52 and DH lost his Dad when DH was 23 and his Mum when he was 47 and I think it gives you a slightly different view on life, we like to make the most of Birthdays/Christmas as family are so important. Although saying that, we don't always spend as much, just DD is missing the family so much :(. Her Birthday present is a Pandora charm that I got in the sale for £22 so hoping it's too her taste.

Has anyone seen the awful weather in America? 6 feet of snow and they are predicting another 2 foot in the next 24 hours!

I hope you all had a wonderful day and that Cranky40 and Caterina are starting to feel better. X

    Good evening,

Ginny, your shopping for Christmas sounds like a lot of fun, and well done on your great find for DGS. What's B&M? I am interested in the chocolate!

MOS I am feeling better thank you. I am going through a bit of a health worry and until I get my tests sorted I know I shall feel rather jumpy and prone to worrying. I am glad you are having a good time with your family.

Today is a NSD! By chance, as I had invited DS to have lunch at pizza express with the 2 for 1 card, but had forgotten we were meant to have a visitor at lunchtime so we stayed in when she arrived and I made cream of tomato soup (tinned tomatoes with a bit of onion, a carrot and a parsnip, bit of marigold bouillon, water, let it boil then blend, then add a couple of spoonfuls of basic cream cheese). We all loved it!

Laundry done, it is still out in the garden so I hope it does nor rain overnight.

Dinner was squash and spinach risotto and it was also good. Now as predicted I am in bed with a large mug of liquorice tea, iPad and a book. Happy as Larry.

Hope you all had a good OS day. Good night.

  • Thanks for the welcome :) I have been lurking around since the start of this thread, I find it very encouraging! I am taking note of the tomato soup recipe - never been a fan of tomato soup, but that sounds really good.

Thanks Caterina, I think the cheese is whats missing from my tomato soup!

B and M is a big cheap shop, Im not sure if they have them down south, will investigate for you.

Almost finished big blanket for a friend made of squares sent to me by other friends. Just got to sew the ends in and post it - slowly getting room in the house now Im selling things and moving things on. Had a bit of an epiphany last night regarding the house so I need to clear things up before Christmas.

  • Hello :)
Yesterday was up and down. The 2 little boys have been difficult since we got back from our weekend away and yesterday was no different.
But Dad came over for a visit and did a couple of loads of laundry for me , bless him.

Chocolate cake was made but pizzas weren't, fortunately I had some hm burger patties in the freezer so a quick and easy tea sorted while hubby played with the boys.

Managed a NSD which I'm pleased about and even made $50 selling something on the buy and sell page :j so that's going in the xmas kitty.

Today so far we've tidied the toy room and I need to make some baby food.
I need to pick up few bits from the supermarket so it wont be a NSD

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend
Love people use things. The opposite never works.

    Good morning,

Skeeter93, our guest said exactly that, that she normally does not like tomato soup but that she enjoyed the homemade one.

Ginny the cream cheese gives the soup creaminess. Also, it should have had some potato to make it a bit thicker, but failing that the carrot and parsnip helped. Thank you for checking about the shop.

Amandaatnumber7 well done on NSD and making a bit of money for your Christmas kitty.

Yesterday we found from our guest (DD's best friend) that DD has no intention to come to visit us for Christmas. She has almost completely estranged herself from the rest of the family. I am terribly sad about it, but as I am estranged from my family of origin, I understand that sometimes it is the only way, if the disagreement runs too deep. We disapproved deeply of DD's choice of partner (violent, unstable and involved in all sorts of unsavoury things) and she begrudged us trying to separate them. So be it, sadly. It is really painful to have to accept her decision but also so much more peaceful to be removed to her need for high drama.

    Today's OS plan:

Herbal clinic, my ultimate physical and mental health refuge. Low cost as it is a student clinic, but the service and expertise are second to none. They have her,per me through thick and thin and today I shall talk to them about my immediate health worry, I hope they will reassure me a bit while I wait for more tests.

Then a bit of shopping (bread mainly but will look out for any YS bargains in the veg department).

Afternoon, the usual counselling session, then home and dinner. I have soaked some Aduki beans so it will be a grains and bean veg soup, probably barley as it is liked by all, or if I have enough time it might be bean and vege sausage casserole with quinoa.

    Have a good OS day.

  • My heating is back on It suddenly started working not sure why.

I have a busy day - I need to buy a photo album and then put it photos for DS2 to give him at his birthday lunch on Sunday. I have the photos sorted but not found a suitable album yet.

I need to spend some time in the garden aswell and clean the house as a friend DS2 godfather is coming to stay tomorrow.
Both DS still have an advent calender and so I need to finish filling them and wrapping the presents generally chocolate and coins.

Sorry to hear of your worries Caterina. I hope it turns out to be nothing serious.

I'm starting to feel almost human again. A good night's sleep really helped, so I have a few things to do today. One of them is to go and buy a decent artificial Christmas tree before everywhere sells out and we're left with something we don't much like. The cats do love a good Christmas tree.

Good luck with your pot and pan search Ginny. I'll keep my eyes open when I'm out and about in case I spot any.

My sister says it's raining in Ireland so that'll probably arrive here later today or tomorrow. You have been warned. Better than the snow that they have in Buffalo NY though? We've been debating how you would send your dog out for a piddle if the snow is higher than your front door.
