Good evening,
Tatabubbly, poor you, get well soon xx
MOS the ironing went as planned, 6 shirts bit the dust today, and 2 linen pillowcases which are needed for next bedding change (soon). Thank you for asking! Re. Bread pudding, it is a lovely dish, I used to make a savoury version that my family loved, when the kids were little, with bits of broccoli and cheese.
Babychick welcome to the thread, it is harder to stay OS if you work long hours as the temptation for expensive shortcuts is all that much stronger. I hope that sharing and reading posts here will help you.
Villagelife I hope your car passes the MOT without problems.
Well, forget about the NSD today! Post office signed for letter sent, DIY shop visited and masking tape bought, then paid for DS prescription, then I bough him a gift, some chocolate truffles that he had wanted for a long time. All the other are incidental expenses but the truffles (£5.99) go in the GC.
Glad the ironing mountain has reduced in size but it is about to grow again as the sunny day called for 2 lots of laundry, does it ever end?
Good night all. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hi everyone
Thank you for all your kind suggestions - sorry its taken me a while to respond its been a manic few days! We have asked the children what they most want to happen at xmas time. We broke the news to the young man that a Wii U wasnt going to happen and he took it really well and said "but i will still get my stocking wont I?" Bless his heart. The youngest being 4 just wants presents and my eldest said "what i want for xmas is for us to be together and eat nice food" so im not going to worry about what to get as presents for them as much.
Pay day is friday and I cant wait! We are down to our last £19 (no joke) so im trying to make everything in the fridge/freezer/cupboard last. Its only 2 days away but may as well be a week haha! Brisket is defrosting in the fridge to go in the slow cooker tomorrow.
Mon x0 -
Good morning,
Mon1o I am so glad that your conversation with your children about Christmas went so well.
Today I am going to start doing a bit more exercise and take advantage of my gym membership, so I have booked myself for Zumba and yoga, I need both, the first for aerobic fitness and the second for stretch and relaxation.
Before that, buying paint then a bit more ironing and afterwards just a bit of tidying up and sorting out paperwork, and cooking dinner.
Not planning a very full day as I really feel like having a slow gentle day.
It will not be a NSD (again! Only 2 days to go if I want my 10/10 challenge to be successful!) as I need to buy some paint for the windows. The building works expenses never seem to end. At least now it is only materials as DH and DS are doing the rest. At some point we will need to tackle the other rooms and will have to pay someone for plastering, but I shall have saved for it. And if my friendly builder is free he will give me a reasonable price.
Have a good OS day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Grr! I made a good start on getting caught up on my ironing yesterday and had planned to do the rest today BUT my iron, which I had repaired in August by the manufacturer has decided to give up the ghost AGAIN! Fortunately they're going to pick it up tomorrow for a free repair (I should hope so!) but it's so flipping inconvenient as it's not often I'm in the 'zone' to tackle the ironing mountain :mad:Happiness is not getting what you want - it's wanting what you have

Oh Babychick, come and borrow mine, it's not like I use it a lot LOLFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

Thanks for the offer, Caterina but I don't think I could get any further away from you in this country!Happiness is not getting what you want - it's wanting what you have

A NSD for me today but mainly because I was too tired to go anywhere.
DD is on school holidays this week and stayed up later than us last night but didn't let the dogs out prior to going to bed so when I got up this morning my poor boy had wee'd on the kitchen floor but had also included the kitchen runner I had down so my first job this morning was to wash the kitchen floor and runner! bless him, he was so worried he was going to be told off that he hid behind the chair but he should know I never tell them off if they have accidents in the house as it is our fault for not making sure we see the 'signs' they give us.....he try's to sit on my lap and whimpers at me but at 23kgs he isn't really a lap dog! :rotfl:
Went up for a shower at about 2pm and thought I would take 5 mins laying on the bed, fast forward to 4.30pm when I woke up, whoops!
I have to rustle up something for dinner tonight but suspect it might be something with chips, can I give a grown man turkey dinosaurs! Lol
I have the pumpkin to carve tomorrow, what do you all do with the seeds/middle bit that you scrape out?
Hope you have all had a lovely day x0 -
You wash the seeds off and dry them - they're quite expensive to buy from H&B!
Use the flesh to make a curry or some soup. I make a butternut squash & lentil curry and I think pumpkin would work just as well.

Good morning,
MOS well done on NSD. Actually you CAN give a grown man turkey dinosaurs, disguise them in a turkey and potato pie/stew, chopped in Turkey Bolognese sauce, lots of ways to disguise food for our fussy boys, regardless of their age!
Joedenise squash curry is lovely, I am going to use the last squash of the allotment tomorrow just for that (tonight potato pie).
I have 2 days to make my NSD 10/10 challenge, it should not be a problem because I have nothing missing food wise and can't think of any other spend required. The only possible spends would come from the men, building stuff, and I know DH is having a haircut tomorrow. He has to have it tomorrow as it is the only day he can avoid the barber that cuts his hair badly, the woman on Fridays does a better job. It is his spend so I don't count it in my challenge.
Am having a lazy morning today. Yesterday I went to a zumba class then yoga. The zumba was great, but the yoga hurt me so much! I am always puzzled as to why this is the case, everybody bangs on about the benefits of yoga but it just hurts me. Maybe my joints just cannot take that level of stretch, they seem to get inflamed.
So today is going to be a gentle walk for my exercise, probably to the allotment to pick up some greens for dinner.
Still a bit of ironing to do, not much finally, until next laundry, that is.
I am going to bake a batch of scones for pudding, maybe with little bits of apple, the men will like that. I shall have to discipline myself to not eat the whole batch as it comes out of the oven, though.
Have a good OS day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Caterina - I made the butternut squash and lentil curry last night which was lovely. Both DH and I also had LOs for lunch which I have only just had. I don't usually eat as late as that but didn't get back from shopping until about 1.30 and then DD2 called to chat.
I've still got another couple of butternut squash ripening on the window still but they're not as big as the others we've had so I may use both together and do a bigger batch than usual which will mean a couple of meals into the freezer for DH and me. Not planning on cooking them this month as I've already done my meal planner up to DH's payday so not needed, but of course they keep for ages once they're ripe.
