Good morning,
Amber03 good for you for doing the food inventory, I have never done it but it sounds like a very useful activity.
I was going to put a big order of dry goods (pulses, grains etc) but decided to run down my stocks first. I have quite a few packets of AF bits and pieces that are now becoming rather ancient (but still ok to eat), so the next few months will see me depleting the reserves. The problems are A - I can't eat too many carbs as they fatten and bloat me, B - there are just so many casseroles I can serve the men, especially DS who is a bit fussy. I have some millet that would have expired in 2008, but it is still perfectly good. I reckon if they found wheat in Pharaohs tombs which is still good, what's a decade between friends, :rotfl:?
My OS plan for today, after having breakfast and sorting DH's packed lunch, is to do another session of tai chi in the park, I am really feeling the benefits, very relaxing and it works my brain too, to remember all the tiny precision moves. This guy is a very good teacher.
Then I need to check my tickets for the journey, only 2 days to go! And sort out the paperwork and locate the places for my mystery shops tomorrow. I want them over and done before I go away because I don't want to have to rush them after I come back.
Lunch is leftover soup from last night (DS turned his nose because there was a lot of kale in it pfffff....) then DH is out tonight, having drinks with former colleagues, not sure whether he is eating here or not, so dinner will depend on who is eating at home. I might just throw some fish fingers under the grill for DS and myself, or make ratatouille and vege burger with the vegemix, I shall decide when I have more info on the men's movements.
Have a good OS day. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Good Morning All,
Sammy, I would still consider today as a no spending day as rent is something that needs to be paid and isn't a choice. Not sure if I am doing it wrong but I consider myself to have had a NSD if I haven't been out and bought anything not budgeted for IYSWIM? For example, my dog needs to go for an X-Ray tomorrow, not a 'normal' bill so I will count is as a spend day, £140 worth of spend so going to have to tighten the belts a few notches over the next couple of weeks!
Sunday, we had a lovely roast beef joint, reduced in M&S some time ago and it was lovely, so tender that you couldn't carve it as it just fell apart. Yesterday was slow cooker jacket potatoes with cheese and beans for me and DD and DH and DD BF had theirs with some left over spag bol, everyone was very happy and very full once we had finished. Dinner tonight will be slow cooked beef casserole done in my thermal cooker and for dessert I will be making some millionaire shortbread as I really think my tin of condensed milk needs using, it's only dated July 2012 so should be fine :rotfl: (this was inherited when my DH's Mum passed away in 2010).
Eldest Border Collie away at the vets all day tomorrow so I have arranged for a mobile dog groomer to come out and wash and cut my younger Border Collie as I am unable to bath him myself, going to be £30 but he won't have the stress of going to the groomers and as this is his first time and he is a nervous dog, I feel it will be worth it. Hoping eldest DD might be able to give him his Christmas bath as she used to do it before she left. Although he was castrated at 6 months old, he still seems to have a 'male dog smell' so time for a wash!
We have lovely sunshine here today but temperatures of only 7 degrees so although I have washing in the machine, it will go out on the airer to dry and I will bring it in just before dark. Hoovering and dusting are a must and going to need to get youngest DD scraped off of her bed as she is still in it!
I hope you all have a lovely OS day x0 -
Sammy - I agree with MOS re NSDs. I only count days when I don't spend unnecessarily, although having said that I do count days when I do grocery shopping - if I didn't count those I'd easily get about 22 or 23 days a month:D as I generally only go near the shops twice a week.

Good evening,
A quick one as am half asleep, so tired! Good tai chi in the sunshine this morning, then did some paperwork, showed my friendly builder where the local tip is (very interesting, to go on the tradesmen side!), then work with the boys. Back home I cooked a stir fry and watched TV as DH and DS were out.
So, it was a NSD for me! BTW Sammy I agree with the others, rent should not count as a spend as it is a necessary and already budgeted regular expense, so count yourself an extra NSD!
Good night. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Not a NSD today here, forgot to grab my lunch so I'll have to buy it! Getting a subway salad as I want to be kind to my tum! Low carb seems to be helping with the bloat!!
Currently working away here, hoping for a productive day! OH is away on his very first business meeting abroad so it's exciting for us! He was like a kid getting up this morning for the airport!
Finished my book I have in the house so need some new paperbacks, planning on heading to the local charity shop to pick some reads up!!094 Sealed pot member! (7) €185 (8) €138 (9) €€250

Good evening,
Tatabubbly, your post just reminded me that I should have gone to the CS today to pick up a couple of books for my journey. Bummer. Will have to have a rummage and find something to read that I haven't read or have forgotten, in my messy bookshelves!
Anyway, I have just popped in to say that tomorrow I shall be traveling to Italy and not sure when I will have an opportunity to go online until my return. So, in case you don't see me for a few days, have a good few OS days and a lovely weekend.
Will pop in if I get wifi anywhere during my travels, but am not sure.
Bye! xxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Going to try and keep the page near the top whilst Caterina is away so keep posting guys!
2 Nsd's in a row since my big shop with the voucher from Sky. Still have £22 on it so wont have to touch my cash for a good while apart from posting 2 parcels tomorrow.
Been making air drying clay Christmas decorations today. The clay has been in my crafty stash for years. Made clay gingerbred men in terracotta, hearts and tree's in white so I have trays of damp clay all round the living room and I only used half a pack of each. Going to tie them to gifts so they can be popped on the tree at everyones home.
Hope everyone is keeping warm and frugalGet those hot water bottles out peeps!

Been busy doing OS shopping yesterday. Anyone give up shower gel for good old soap? Were I live shower gel is a ridiculous price, soap is so much cheaper so I'm gonna head back to soap bars and see how it goes!
Still haven't made it to the CS yet as OH is usually the one with the car!
Bagged up some of my change and changed it to Euros.. A great money saving tool as I can't spend it over here!! Lol Is it wrong that I am already counting down the days till I get paid next?
Hit my first mini target for my OH wedding present.. Can't wait to add to it for next month. Having a bit of trouble trying to find things to buy him for Xmas.. Might get him an adventure day out instead!!094 Sealed pot member! (7) €185 (8) €138 (9) €€250

Caterina, I hope you have a lovely time in Italy.
A quiet couple of days for me which has allowed me to play a boring game of freezer Tetris and switch off my 3/4 size freezer so very pleased with that :j
DH is a delivery driver and gets to collect the points from filling the vans up when he goes to Te$co's so we had £16.50 of vouchers this week, think I am going to 'double up' and make them really work for us this time as there are some bits for Christmas I can buy in there.
My Border Collie had her Xray on Wednesday and has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia and mild arthritis in both hips so now I have 2 collies with the same problem, I always thought they were a hardy breed but luckily both of them are insured, excess is £140 though!
Today I will be trying to finish the Dresden plate Christmas mats that I am making for somebody and then I will be starting on my DD's boyfriends advent calendar. Dinner will be something from the freezer so either HM spam Bol or HM chicken and leek pie.
Hope you all have a lovely OS day x0 -
I have managed to have a low spend week and have eaten mainly from stores this week and the house is still tidy apart from both sons rooms.
Have seen a few friends this week which has been fun and makes work more bearable. We have a few events to lopk forward to which is great but will involve spending money so will have to very careful and increase the number of NSD.0
