T-Mobile E Top up rum deal
Options
I topped up a PAUG T-Mobile sim via E top up at Waitrose for my spare emergency phone to take on holiday.
It's been quite a while since topping up and it turns out the lack of any recent (14 months) top up subsequently lead to T mobile have switching off the sim killing it.
Fair enough you live and learn, never knew that happens until looking up online but i guess you don't want loads of unused sims in draws and it's standard across the networks T&C's !
What does really tick me off though is T Mobile don't kill the top up facility linked to the sim card so unsuspecting punters like me can top up the dead sim and waste £20 !
So as i said to the lass on the support phone line T Mobile systems will and can happily take my money but cannot refund it.
So if you like me you have a back up phone hardly used and not topped up often make sure you charge it and see that you have a signal from the network before topping up via the E top up card. A top up is not a way of verifying if the sim is still active.
You live you learn i guess

Have you looked at last actually?I am pretty sure that you don't need to top-up.
Tmobile are taking money under false pretences. If there isn't consumer protection against this then I'd be very surprised.0 -

However, my comment was addressing other OP's statements:- "the lack of any recent (14 months) top up subsequently lead to T mobile have switching off the sim killing it"

Yes sorry should have been clearer have not used it either to text or make calls or top up.
Customer services only mentioned top up failure as reason but as the good Mr Sanders states failure to use the phone at all was part of it.0 -
Fair enough to T-Mobile for switching off the SIM, typically around 6 months of no chargeable use does this.
However did T-Mobile suggest how you could make use of your £20 ?
I would take it up with Waitrose if I were you.0 -
No they did not, was going to write to T Mobile /EE via C/S department first feel it's there fault rather than Waitrose.0
