In a bit of a dilemma here, and hope someone can help.
Visited Currys in Truro in order to purchase a TV and a PC, and to cut a long story short had to pop into the town to go to a bank to shift some money around. Got back and found a parking charge notice. Obviously a bit miffed by now, staff in the shop were unhelpful, even the staff member we were dealing with. - needless to say, we did not make our intended purchase.
I've no intention of paying anything, but am torn about what to do :
1. Follow the proper appeals procedure, and hope to win, or
2. Just ignore anything they send to me, and hope they go away.
Any helpful pointers would be most welcome.

1. Follow the appeals' process as per the NEWBIES sticky.
2. Write to the Curry's manager (cc to the CEO - important - and let the local manager know that you've done so) that they have lost £x000s as a result of this parasite infesting their car park and persecuting genuine customers, who otherwise would have spent a pretty large wedge of hard-earned with them.
Surely in this time of dwindling sales, they can't allow such a leech to suck Curry's profits from their own customers to sate the PPC's greed!
3. Do not ignore. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

as this is JAS, get that appeal template letter in 21 days after the ntk date, to arrive at JAS before day 28 , to avoid the debt collector letters etc
if they fail to gove a popla code on rejection, complain to the bpa
use a typical jas popla appeal to appeal at popla (plenty of JAS threads on here in the last few months)
this is a common occurrence for jas car parks, ticketing people that go "off site", but not preventing them from doing so, then taking pictures of them
jas either cancel when they see the popla appeal, or lose at popla , even if its on not a gpeol
so plenty of similar threads like b&m stockport that you can read , try keyword JAS in the search box0 -
Thanks for your replies so far.
Will do as you suggest, appeal, and on to polpa after that.0 -
Above is from the sticky.Consider waiting for the postal 'Notice to Keeper' in MOST cases, unless it is NCP or Meteor or WING or a small PPC like 'JAS' or 'JD Parking Consultants' or 'UCS parking Ltd' or 'P4Parking aka Nighthawk' who faff about sending debt collector letters and don't even send a NTK. If so, latest advice is to avoid the debt collector rubbish and in the case of the firms listed above, appeal after around 21 days but as the KEEPER, not driver, using the same template below
I think latest advice is to time your appeal just before the deadline.0 -
If this was Garras Wharf write to all the other retailers on site and tell them all about it. Tell them that because of this PPC you will not be using their businesses in future, and that you are advising all your friends and fanily to emulate. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0

If you search 'JAS Staples' on Google you'll find loads of threads showing how everyone has appealed and won (including POPLA wording). You don't have to 'hope to win'!
Send the template appeal on day 21 after this windscreen ticket, so in just under 3 weeks time. Don't wait for a NTK that will never arrive.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I feel quite confident that an appeal will win, and I absolutely intend to write to Currys store manager, and CEO - they 100% lost a sale, nice doing business with you Currys, not!0

I was trapped in Currys car park Truro yesterday morning where I went intending to look for light bulbs. As I first needed the ladies, after parking I nipped across the road to Tescos where they have customer conveniences. I came back within 15 minutes maximum and went into Currys to buy the light bulbs. Unfortunately I was told they did not sell light bulbs. Only then did I return to my car to find the parking ticket stuck to the windscreen. I went straight back into Currys to ask for an explanation and was told it was nothing to do with them but there was a car parking attendant patrolling in a black car. With the help of the adjacent Staples store I eventually spotted him and went to his car and explained. The car park attendant was courteous but said he had issued the ticket and it was now out of his control. Later in the day I visited the Range store and chatted to a friendly assistant and told her what had happened. She told me to see the manager at Currys and get them to contact JAS to stop the ticket. I went back to Currys and left a message with the assistant manager who was try sympathetic. This morning I have just had phone call and the Currys manager has emailed JAS to cancel the ticket. I was told always go and see the management and they will try to help. Good luck!0

Great result Nix-in-a-twist, proving once again the power of the complaint. Hopefully retailers will eventually see that the suit who presented the PPC package to them on the basis of it 'being good for business' will start to realise that there was only one business this was good for - and it wasn't theirs!
We've heard nothing from nicksss in over two months, so we don't know the outcome of his/her situation. Some come back to let us know, others don't, despite the personal efforts of volunteers to help them.

Thanks for your quick response. I also told the Curry's manager about Nickss experience and that they were losing business because of the over-stringent new parking regulations. She was very glad to know.
Before I found your site I sent JAS a long explanatory email, illustrated with shots from Google Street, and said their inadequate signs were to blame, as the large print only says Staples Curry's and everything else is in small print, not legible as you drive in. There is nothing in bold type as a WARNING not to set foot off the premises or you will be heavily fined. I think this may well be in breach of the British Parking Association Code of Practice Appendix B, which I only learned about thanks to your site. So I then pointed this out to them in a follow up email.
This site is absolutely marvellous and was a great help and comfort to me when I came home yesterday feeling cross, upset and frustrated! So a great big THANK YOU!0
