The S2 is 3 years old, so the original battery will be tired at the very least. As for buying a battery from ebay, buy from a reputable source so you know for sure you are getting the genuine article.

Install BetterBatteryStats and this will give you a complete breakdown of whatever is using the battery, although you'll find that Location Services is a bit of a battery eater.

Also make sure that Bluetooth and GPS are disabled (GPS is another battery killer), set the WiFi to go to sleep when the screen is off, enable "Auto Brightness", and see where you go from there before buying another battery.

Generators are not ideal for charging with the mains output. I have inverters that state dont use for battery charging.
