Sky - do they owe me money?

Hi guys,
I rang Sky in May and cancelled my full package of Tv, Broadband & Telephone. I gave them the 30 days notice they ask for.
I then signed up to Virgin but I realised just recently that Sky had just taken £36 from my account. When I looked on mysky page it says it's for the month of July.
I stopped my DD on my bank account but when I done this I got a letter asking why when they need monthly payments.
I rang Sky and they say my phone/broadband are still live but I explained if they check their records they will see I cancelled in May.
Their response was that it was Virgins fault as they should have told them they had added a new line which just confused me.
I rang Virgin and they say it's nothing to do with them aghhh.
My question is surely it's SKY who owe me the money?
Sorry it's a bit long winded.

The Virgin line should have noting to do with Sky. Completely different cabling altogether.0

It depends what was said on the call to Sky.
You should request the call gets checked.
Normally customers switching providers will cancel tv and the gaining provider will switch the phone number thereby cancelling the Sky telephone and broadband.
So it depends on what you said on the call.
If you've told Sky you were keeping your number then they will have left the telephone and broadband active for you to "port" your number then you won't get a refund.
If you've told them to cancel everything and that you didn't want to keep your number then you should get a refund.0
