Parking Fine

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me regarding a parking fine that I've recently been issued with. I have received a £70 parking fine because according to the parking company I have ignored their first notification and failed to pay the original fine so now the amount has increased to £70.00 - but I have NEVER received the first notification from them. I have written to them and explained that I have not paid it because the first I knew about the fine was when I had received the 2nd letter. I am still waiting to receive a reply from them but just wanted some help or advice from any of you guys as I know that a lot of parking companies are a law unto themselves and make up their own rules to suit them. Thank you;)
