Success rate for lowering BT broadband renewals

See the MSE guide for renewals and note that BT not in the top 10 list for success rates. Come to the end of my 2nd broadband contract with them tomorrow and was just wondering what people think the odds are of them lowering the costs. Last time they dropped my bill by about 50p per month but did chuck in a free BT Hub4. Currently paying £18 for Infinity 40mb / 40GB allowance and also have evening / weekend calls and pay line rental upfront. Not had too many issues so would prefer to stay with them as long as they knock a few quid off. What's the best tactic - call and ask for MAC and wait for them to react? If they give me the MAC does this automatically start the cancellation process or is it only actually effective if I give to another service provider?

A MAC expires if not actually used- if you go to a new provider they will submit the code when they take the contract over; you don't want it to start the "cancellation" process as you would be charged by BT for disconnection and then (possibly) charged by the new provider for reconnection!!0
