UKPC ticket illegible

Options
My car was parked in a shopping centre parking bay that had clear signage saying it was controlled by UKPC and that could only be used for certain purposes. It is very specific and does state a charge for non-compliance. No complaints there. When the driver returned 2 hours later it had a ticket on the windscreen. Pay £90 or £45 within 2 weeks etc.

Does it make any difference that the parking ticket printer was faulty and has not printed the full date and does not include the time, does not include the car reg number, make or colour and just bits of the location address?

Do they have to send out a NTK by post as well and will this override the useless screen ticket?

They do not mention POFA2012 on their tickets but they do state they are members of BPA. The BPA code of practice states that they should have all this info on the PCN and that they should comply with the POFA12 requirements in this respect.

Do I wait and see if I get an NTK before appealing even though this would be over the 2 weeks discount period?

Regards

    Hi bernie,
If you live in either England or Wales then - Yes follow the advice in the NEWBIES thread to wait for the NtK before sending off the 1st appeal template.
Don't worry about the 2 weeks discount "bribe". It's aimed to panic the unwary into paying up and not appealing because they know they will lose.
But you have found the right place to help you beat them and pay a big fat £0

Yes of course, that's what the sticky thread tells you after all. If the advice was different I would change the sticky thread. :)

Who cares about that? Stop eyeing the discount bribe, please stop thinking you will end up paying anything!

as this is MSE, nobody is going to tell you to pay a penny, a discounted price, or the full price either

just follow the NEWBIES thread advice, nothing else to do apart from that

    which is

    1) wait for NTK and appeal

    2) also complain to the landowner and get a cancellation

When they do send the NtK, it may well talk about POFA. However, you never got a Notice to Driver (the illegible piece of paper you got is not an NtD as it seems it is missing most of the crucial information). Therefore the NtK will be out of time, and so no Keeper Liability. What a shame.

Thanks everyone for your advice above. I have now received the NTK from UKPC. I used the template on the sticky at the top of the Parking Tickets forum to build my initial response. When I came back in to ask some further advice I found myself in a different thread run by Pormer MSE Marcel and saw an updated guide which I followed "Fight Private Parking Tickets". Thinking you guys had updated/moderated your template I built my letter using this guide. I now have 2 documents. Which one should I send and would one of you experts mind giving it the once over?

Either! Doesn't really matter, the whole point is just to get a POPLA code or cancellation. :)

mmm, still no mention of a reply to what I wrote earlier, so I have re-quoted it and highlighted and emboldened it in red

I just find it strange that generally people never seem to do this as an option

I would prefer a cancellation. sounds like a lot less hassle!

Thanks for restating this Redx. I missed it on your previous thread as I was focused on the response to the NTK bit. I will get a complaint in to the land owner this weekend.

    Cheers

Use 'my' version template appeal in the Newbies thread then! Look how commonly UKPC give up when they've seen that template recently:
