I'm sorry, but if she's saying she's got earache, headache, cold day after day after day, then surely she needs to see a doctor? That's not normal. Just because you're not registered anywhere isn't a good excuse. Just because you don't do doctors isn't a good excuse. She can GET registered and go and see if there's something physically wrong. She MAY be depressed but no-one can diagnose her over the internet!

Hi, i think its easy to be lazy when there is no routine.

As she really has nothing to get up for, its like a vicious cycle.

Maybe help her to get focused by suggesting a time table? Not rigid but say she contacts 5 agencies a day, gets out of bed at a certain time, etc etc. I dont know how you sort out chores and food but even that she cooks one day or cleans so and so. Just to get some routine back ito her life?

Does her mum know whats going on? Maybe a chat with her would help your friend.

Is there anything that she is worried about?

Just talk to her and tell her that you are worried about her.

    hope you get it sorted.

Take your point about not doing doctors etc but I once had glandular fever and the symptoms were fairly similar to this, sleeping a lot etc. this could have a physical cause. Surely it's worth getting checked out...

You say she has a new bloke. How is she acting towards him? Does she make the effort to get ready to see him. and show enthusiasm when they have a date?

Or could it be that the new bloke is messing her around, which is making her feel powerless about her situation? He's not married, is he?
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

Just because you dont have a doctor, is no reason why she shouldnt
(please don’t suggest Dr’s or anything cos I don’t do Dr’s and neither of us are registered anywhere. )

Couldnt you "both" go and register at a drs as a "trip out" you could say its for your pill or something...

Just because you have an aversion to medical help, you have to accept that most of us need to see a medical practitioner at some point in life.

Bottom line is if he isnt working, she needs to sign on, get housing benefit, coucil tax benefit, whatever.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

You both will be registered somewhere unless you're both immigrants or both born under the same gooseberry bush

Doubt it.... i've not been to the docs since i was about 15 (12 years ago) - i'm guessing they'll have deleted me. Other end of the country too.
I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler

I took her out to get a takeaway last night. After she eventually got up (8pm!!!). That was 1.5 hours out walking and stuff and seemed to do her good.

She got up today about 14.00 and cleaned the whole apartment which is fantastic (both in terms of her being better and me finding a clean mug!!!)

My Dad is bringing my crazy springer spaniel round tomorrow morning an she ain't a hope in hell of staying in bed all day for that.

    Hopefully........

Thanks for all the help/reassurance guys.

NHS only delete GP medical records on people when they're dead, so your records will still be there. Dormant and gathering dust, but still there :D

I know a fair bit about depression.

Without seeing a doctor there are things that you can do:
exercise is crucial, hence why she was feeling a bit brighter last night after being outside and walking.
    a good diet is essential
cutting down on caffeine and alcohol also help.

at the end of the day though if she needs to see a dr then she needs to see one.. imho anyway..
