Cancelling Orange contract questions
Hi,
I have been on a 2 year contract with Orange that came to an end yesterday (9 July). I have obtained a PAC from them.
My question is, if I use the PAC today (10 July) will I now be charged for another full month (ie 10 July - 9 August, the 9th being my biling date)? Or will they simply charge me for one day of the contract?
I want to switch ASAP but if I'm going to be charged for another month anyway I may as well use it.
Secondly, I have been paying for Orange Care or whatever their insurance is called. When I cancel my contract is this automatically cancelled too?
Cheers!

It's the former. You should have requested the PAC 30 days ago.My question is, if I use the PAC today (10 July) will I now be charged for another full month (ie 10 July - 9 August, the 9th being my biling date)? Or will they simply charge me for one day of the contract?
I don't know, but I wouldn't rely on anything 'automatic'.Secondly, I have been paying for Orange Care or whatever their insurance is called. When I cancel my contract is this automatically cancelled too?0 -
When I wanted to end an Orange contract, I found that they took the direct debit for the full month, but then a few weeks later they sent a cheque for the unused days.
If it was me, I'd use the PAC now, and when the number has transferred ring them to confirm that the contract is cancelled and so is the insurance. Don't cancel any direct debits for a month or two, and equally don't assume that they won't collect any more direct debits just in case there is a mistake somewhere along the line - make sure you check your bank account carefully and that a letter arrives confirming that the account is cancelled.0 -
Yes, you are right, if the OP is now on a 30 day contract and hasn't given notice yet, then it is probably a bit early to use the PAC.
So does requesting a PAC not count as giving notice? Assuming I use the PAC on say, the 7 August, will my contract be cut off immediately (ie will my last billing date definitely be 9/8/14?)
Cheers for the help so far.0 -
No its not a cancellation as you do not have to use it .0

The contract gets terminated as soon as the number is ported. You pay for 30 days regardless. So does requesting a PAC not count as giving notice? Assuming I use the PAC on say, the 7 August, will my contract be cut off immediately (ie will my last billing date definitely be 9/8/14?)0 -
