bt. broadband

I've for the past six months been having problems with by broadband, I the signal according to their tech dept in India is ok as far as the hub, but the signal from the hub to my equipment keeps dropping out. I've been told by by that I will have to put up with it until my contract runs out in November.. there is a cable between the router and by tv,, and I have wireless equipment, so the excuse they are making about not connecting straight into hub is just an excuse on there part. So those of you out there be aware when looking at by for broadband etc

Change the channel? Do a search to see how much traffic you get on the channel your using.

I found that using the microwave dropped my download speed. It was funny to see the download graph then a sudden drop.
Timed perfectly to when the other half put the microwave on.

Not tested it since getting FTTC though.

If the signal is Ok as far as the hub it leaves only two possibles. One router faulty or two your setup .
Only way to test is to bypass wifi and use ethernet to PC and test for a few days .
You could borrow a WiFi router and test .
Its even worth a factory reset on the router and set up all your WiFi equipment again .

use a WiFi signal tester and all the other self help to pinpoint the problem .
BT have a forum with lots of advice also .
  • I have a similar problem. I live in a rural area in NI and don't get Infinity. Broadband speed is about 1.5mb at best. Over the last 10 days my hub has dropped out over 60 times per day. Taken the faceplate off, changed the filter, and stood on 1 leg, etc.
I've just had a long winded call trying to get BT to send me the drop out data and they flatly refuse. Is this reasonable?.
Secondly, the engineer is coming out on Saturday to look at it. I'm convinced the problem is on the public road. How do I get him to investigate this. The drop outs are related to rainfall.
    Thanks,
    C.

Log the disconnection times and record the corresponding weather conditions.
And hope it's raining when OR turn up...
