Herbalife- has anyone actually lost weight?

This has been discussed many times on MSE, as has MLM, and all the reputable posters advise people not to get involved.
The attitude displayed by some supporters when the product and selling methods are criticised is very alarming.
£100 per month? That is unbelievable.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

I have used herbal life and I did loose weight and I was not hungry while on the diet but I,ve also lost weight by other diets too. If you stick to what they tell you to eat you will loose weight due to the fact your calorie intake is reduced, same as any other diet.0

There were some samples for us to try - one of the cereal bars tasted really sweet to me, so I checked the label - 25% sugar!!! Honestly, you'd be better off with a couple of ordinary bikkies!!
I've just sneaked a look at DD's "food" and the shake is 31.5% sugar:eek: I have no Nesquik to hand but it's probably something similar, and cheaper. And probably tastier. The green tea is actually nothing of the sort....main ingredient is maltodextrin, next is sugar and caffeine powder, then various tea extracts. How can something that is 22.4% sugar and 79% carbohydrate boost calorie burning??
DD told me last night that Doctors have no idea what they're talking about and that healthy eating doesn't work. She's been brainwashed:mad:
Unfortunately I can't do anything about it. DD is 26, and the PT isn't breaking any laws. He's not daft, the gym he works at is council run but he does all his Herbalife meetings at his home. DD said to me when she first got involved "A uses it and he hasn't got any fat on his body". I'll put money on the fact that he doesn't use it at all. He probably uses protein shakes and the fact that he does circuit training and boot camp classes all bloody day to keep his body in that condition.
Thank you all for your opinions. I had a feeling these were the responses I'd get. I'll wait for the troll to arrive and spam me with their evangelical BS:rotfl: I will also read any links you inserted. Thanks again.0 -
It's just another fad diet. Hope your DD wakes up soon and stops blowing money on this crap

I do know one man who did, genuinely, lose about three stone using herbalife products but I don't know how much of that was to do with cutting out the bad parts of his diet at the same time. He then went off the deep end and got quite high in their pyramid, now working for them full time and has been over to their HQ several times in the US.
I will never forget the day he was hassling a mutual friend to attend a party he was setting up to try to recruit more sellers/users. I lost it with him as he wanted her to go the day before her grandfathers funeral. Get the picture, we haven't been interested at any other point so quit hassling us now.
I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole personally.

Hmmm this reminds me of when I first met my OH 8 years ago..at the time he was very into the gym and keeping fit and had got into selling the herbalife shakes and powders etc by a friend who had also been brainwashed into believing it was the miracle of life!
I tried one of the shakes once and it was rank, how anyone can last weeks living on these things is beyond me. We looked up the ingredients and it was pretty much the same as another well known slimming milkshake, he told the distributor friend and this did not go down too well!! the friend refused to speak to him after that as he would not hear a bad word said about it and thankfully the oh stopped selling the stuff. He told me about the sales seminars he used to go to...80 year olds leaping about on stage like something out of cocoon! lol! he laughs about it now and I am relieved he stopped selling it. Its all a money making scheme preying on the desperate.
I hope your daughter soon see's sense and stops wasting £100 a month on this rubbish x0 -
The products were very good but expensive and the meal replacement shakes originated from Herbalife and many companies later copied them.
Unfortunately many of the products were re-formulated due to regulations and were not as effective and some products were took off sale due to the HMPD.
The Herbal Aloe Drink cannot be found anywhere else! It's unique and very effective at what it does which most people, especially those on this thread are totally unaware of. If your thinking "You can buy Aloe Vera anywhere, most likely far cheaper" and you would be terribly incorrect. It does have Aloe Vera juice in it but it also has German Chamomile essential oil and Alfalfa which work together with the Aloe vera to alter the nervous system function throughout the body and actually reverse normal ageing processes. However you would not be aware of this because you have not studied it!
It too was re-formulated during the late nineties and did not work as well as the earlier product. The older version tended to cause more stimulation of the nervous system and some people got themselves into trouble using it because they overdid things. As a result everyone else who benefited enormously from the product no longer got the more stimulating effect that they needed. Everyone is not the same and one product cannot fit everyone equally well. Some people are parasympathetic dominant and need help to re-balance the nervous system which the original Herbal Aloe provided.
I used to use the older version and nothing came remotely close to getting the benefits that it gave me. Anyone with CFS would of got the best help they could of got with that product because it re-balanced the nervous system to a more sympathetic dominated state rather than the parasympathetic dominant state with tiredness and exhaustion that many have to endure.
The Formula 2 which was a nutrient formula with herbs 2x3/day was also somewhat stimulating and also provided big benefits not found anywhere else. That got re-formulated to a lower nutrient formula to comply with new regulations and it was hopeless in comparison.
Things really nosedived at Herbalife after Mark Hughes' death.
I no longer purchase the stuff and make my own version of Herbal Aloe and get the same effect for much less money.0 -
Especially people on this thread are unaware of? I know more about herbalife than you might think given that Im a fitness instructor and for the last 18 months or so Ive had people contacting me on a regular basis asking me to buy into their franchise.
Neither should you assume what people have or havent studied.
Its a load of cobblers.0 -
Anyone can sell herbalife, that is frightening quite frankly.
Of course people are going to promote something that will make them money, but some people clearly have nil integrity.0
