Herbalife- has anyone actually lost weight?

My DD is doing Herbalife after the trainer at her gym talked her into it. She's been using it for several weeks and at first was full of how she couldn't wait to start shifting the pounds, but now she refuses to talk about how much weight she's lost and tbh I can't see any difference.

Personally I think it's all a scam. The PT has got most of his class on it, and they are ALL now "distributors" and "wellness coaches", yet none of them have had a minute's training. To start with DD said it would be £65 a month, now it's up to £100 and she's now trying to get other people on it. I'm convinced the only one benefiting is the PT, in his wallet!

We were talking about Herbalife earlier and she got very defensive and protective, won't have a word said against it. She now has some green tea powder that apparently burns 50 calories a cup just by drinking it :rotfl: I've had a look at proper medical sites and green tea can aid calorie burning by increasing metabolism but....you would have to drink 10 cups of it at every meal to burn an extra 10% calories. I didn't tell DD this, it will cause an argument and we have enough of those already.

Have you, or anyone you know, actually had a good weight loss with Herbalife??

I'm starting to get really worried about DD. It's like she's joined a secret cult

It's not about having an effective product and selling it too as many people as possible, it's about get as many people as possible to believe they can sell it ;)

Most women I know are on it and after trying all of the cheaper shakes (an actually losing weight with them but not keeping me feeling full long enough) I've ordered 1 pot of the formula 1 today, and I did it through amazon, no 'starter pack' or self replenishing subscription.

I will see how it goes...

The owner of my gym is a Herbalife distributor, and I went along to an evening 'event' to promote it.

There were some samples for us to try - one of the cereal bars tasted really sweet to me, so I checked the label - 25% sugar!!! Honestly, you'd be better off with a couple of ordinary bikkies!!

Someone with a brand new ID who couldn't wait to join MSE just to tell us how wonderful product X is and that we are all fouls for not using it ;)
And by coincidence this would happen about at the same time when the PR team at company X finds out about this thread?
I'm sure in this case you are mistaken ;)
  • Definitely a scam. Especially the thing with the green tea. No commercial product will ever work, this is why they take advantage of people's laziness. Because seriously only lazy people turn to weight-loss merchandise instead of going the long run with healthy dieting and exercises.

Though, to be fair, there IS some truth about eating certain things and losing weight. For example, there was this saying about celery - you lose weight from just eating it because your body burns more calories to digest it, than the calories it actually contains. Low calorie products seem to work the same way, but I'd still recommend celery to all this unreasonable money spending :)

    Exactly this, avoid!

Its all a big money making scam.

This is all over the internet, but sadly untrue, there is no research to prove the existence of negative calorie foods. Lots of reasons to eat celery and other low-calorie foods, but you can't burn calories purely by eating food.
