I'd go for something a bit more cultural, like a Mexican style mask:

I would suggest a sugar skull (Day of the Dead) or Lucha Libre (wrestling) mask so it's more recognisable. There are loads of templates on the internet you can print and cut out so it would be really easy too.

Mexicans dress like any other person in a hot country, is this a lesson about racial stereotypes? or is it just a silly fancy dress thing?
