Are you sure the policy was (is) with the manufacturer, and not actually with D&G? (Domestic & General)

Think that is who it is with, but the policy was sold to me by Zanussi with renewal information coming from the insurer. From memory it is about £7/month. Still strikes me as a better option than taking out an extended warranty at the end of the period covered by the manufacturer as I would have paid for 5 years of cover unnecessarily and it saved me money on the cost of the repair. I have only renewed the policy for the reasons outlined in my previous post or I wouldn't have bothered.

I ask merely because many of the warranty policies offered at the outset are also from D&G.

I agree that taking out a warranty when a device fails can often be more cost-effective.

Very helpful guys, as it happens they didnt retry calling me back today. Which gave me time to get back to this thread. I might go for the "savings fund option" which is always the best idea if you can save enough up in time. My credit card used to serve that purpose but as it happens i think if plans i have work out i should get my rent deposit back which should serve as an emergency fund for everything including the car :)

I never realised warranties could be negotiated after a breakdown either. Useful to know!
