Hi Guys

I bought a SSD drive for my computer but when i came to install it i realised theres no SATA connection on my motherboard.

What can i do, can i get some sort of converter or adapter to make it work or is there no hope.

Many Thanks in advance

Have a look at these on Amazon

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=sata%20pci%20card&sprefix=sata+pci+%2Caps&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Asata%20pci%20card

Depending on what the spec of your motherboard is, it should be quite simple.

You mean the motherboard only supports IDE?

If so, it'll be pretty old, so old the PCI ports aren't likely to support a very fast data transfer rate. So installing an SSD isn't going to make things faster. Quieter maybe.

What model of motherboard is it?

You are opening up a can of worms here.
Given the age of mobo you are using.
You really are looking at a complete motherboard/ram & CPU upgrade.(possibly PSU too)
    Whats your budget?
Given what you have,I would be personally buying 2nd hand to upgrade.

Did it do you till now?
It is very old tech. I recall buying a PC of that era around 2001 when I returned to Edinburgh.
If its performance was fine then a newer set up wont have to be too high spec

It was back in the year 2000 (although it's true clock speed is nowhere near 3200 MHz), nowadays you'll find that high end smartphones outperform it.

You certainly need to come up with more details that that.

    Who makes the board?

Boards with that chipset can have SATA connectors. K8M800 Micro AM2
