US ATM Charges

Hi.

There are a couple of threads on here, but the links don't work anymore.

Doe anyone know where I can get free or cheap cash withdrawals from my Santander Zero card in Las Vegas/SoCal?

Thank you

Difficult, as most if not all US banks now charge a fee for using their ATMs.

    A couple of suggestions:
    - ATMs in McDonalds are usually (often? sometimes?) free to use;
    - ATMs in supermarkets often have low fee ATMs. At Vons in Las Vegas, they had two ATMs, each from a different bank. IIRC one wanted $1.50, the other $2.50.

Are you using the Santander Zero MasterCard? It seems they charge 3% for cash. If you have time, there are better alternatives for cash, such as the Halifax Clarity MasterCard.

    Thank you.

It's actually the Zero Debit card.

I have a Post Office credit card for purchases.

I think I'll just get the most I can get in one transaction.

Does anyone know what the maximum amount is allowed to be withdrawn daily?

    Thank you

In Las Vegas Casino Royale is $1 per transaction and the one at the top of M&M World is $2.

Check the T&Cs of your card to see what your daily limit is.

You are making this up. Why on earth do you think that it is named the Zero card?

Just like the Clarity, they charge only interest on cash withdrawals.
No cash fees or non-sterling transactions fees will be charged to Santander Zero credit card holders (please note, the Santander Zero Credit Card is not currently on sale to new customers).

It's £300 per day per card...we learned this after years of thinking it was £300 per day for the account.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Not really. I checked the Santander website which is difficult to negotiate for cards no longer available to new applicants.
Just like the Clarity, they charge only interest on cash withdrawals.
Unlike the Clarity, they charge 29.9% interest according to MSE's checker. That's almost 2.5x times what Clarity charge me. As I said,

It depends on the ATM. I have taken out the equivalent of £500 in one go.

Might I suggest that most sensible people would cover their cash withdrawals swiftly enough so that they pay minimal interest.

12.9%(not everyone gets 12.9%. 17.9% & 21.9% is possible) or 27.9% is mostly irrelevant if you cover your withdrawals promptly.

If you look at the monthly interest figures for the Clarity; 1.019% or 1.385% or 1.667% respectively. 2.07% for the Zero card... withdrawing the equivalent of £300 from an ATM from the Zero card and covering it a week later, would cost all of £1.50, against £0.75p, £1.04 or £1.25 for the Clarity.

Cover it more quickly and it's even less.
