What do you do about your pillows?
I like one fluffy pillow but I find after a few days, it looks like a flat tyre (despite daily plumping) and after a few months of fluffing and bashing, it never has a "full" look.
I did try out a sprung pillow from Aldi but after one night, it went back.
I considered a memory foam pillow but I'm not sure that would be any good, especially for the price.
Advice?

Few years back, I was given memory foam one and it's good IMHO. (Better than old feather pillows), however it lacks the fluffiness of a feather one.
As for the feather one - my mom taught me to always keep it on fresh air (aka sun and wind), to keep the feathers dry. However even then, these pillows need a proper cleaning quite regularly and sometimes to have the feathers replaced... There are still business specialized on these tasks here in the Czech Republic, not sure about UK though.0 -
I've been trying to buy a lovely new pillow for about four years! I've got two at the moment which hold their shape well, but one is a bit "noisy" (almost like a quiet plastic bag) while the other is silent, so is my preferred head-pillow.
I try to test for noise levels when inspecting pillows in shops, but they tend to be secure in their plastic bags, so I don't know if the pillow is silent or not!
I know it's recommended to change pillows frequently, but... well, let's face it, I'm hopeless!
I was nearly seduced by a "spring" pillow a few months ago, but a few minutes of research on the mobile suggested the springs flatten within a month or two.
I got a memory foam pillow about this time last year, but within two or three days I had my first, and massive, attack of BPV when I woke up that morning. Intellectually I'm 99% sure that the pillow didn't cause it, but I've only used it as an extra pillow prop for reading or laptopping since.Q: What kind of discussions aren't allowed?
A: It goes without saying that this site's about MoneySaving.
Q: Why are some Board Guides sometimes unpleasant?
A: We very much hope this isn't the case. But if it is, please make sure you report this, as you would any other forum user's posts, to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -
I cannot find any pillow that I like. I seem to be buying them every few weeks and not being satisfied with them. I have a base pillow and a top pillow, as I like my head being supported, I cannot sleep , if my head is low on the mattress. I also find that if they are too soft, my head isn't supported, but if they are too firm, My eye ball aches and ear pain too, so must sleep funny.
At the moment I have a Dorma forever full base pillow from Dunelm mill and a Fine bedding co pillow on top. In total £70 worth of pillows, but they are still not great. I had a pillow years ago, which were perfect, but after a while they seemed to go all bumpy and went really bad after being cleaned. I cannot stand memory foam ones, they are too hard, heavy and uncomfortable for me.
The cat has won out big time though, she has 8 pillows that she uses as a big den, where she is as snug as a bug in a rug!0 -
We have feather pillows from Debenhams. They've lasted 6 years and get washed every now and then.0

Some of the memory foam pillows are somewhat uncomfortable as they are quite hard but I have a shaped one (Silentnight, I think), which is a couple of years old and still helps support my iffy neck.0

I have used the same Tempur pillow for over 10 years and love it.0

I would always go for feather (if you're not allergic) and buy the best you can afford. When mine start to lose support I just use them as cushion pads.0

I got a sprung one from Dreams, it's very comfortable. I tried a memory foam one from John Lewis but it was as hard as a brick.
I've also had one with an adjustable air bag in the middle. That was also very comfortable.0 -
Another option to consider is a latex foam pillow. I've used ones from Dunlopillo for years, but they are becoming increasingly hard to find.
Being foam rubber, they are softer than the memory foam pillow I've tried, and springier than feathers or polyester fibre. They are also non-allergenic.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
