Yeah, good going!
Have you a better suggestion? Don't forget that the same questions are being asked time-after-time and it's a waste of time and effort repeating the advice when it's all there in the dedicated threads. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
its also standard procedure in books and reference libraries and maps etc0

At the risk of seeming to support anotheruser's rather rude posting, I would have the acronyms explained the first time they appear: e.g. Notice to Keeper (NtK) and then have the glossary as well. It is slightly more time consuming, but then, so is responding to Newbies with another thread.
Redx, agreed. This is what we do with our reports.
Just a suggestion.

Have you examined how many active posts there are at any one time? Basically, they all fall into one of 3 categories and the regulars - people who know what they are doing - only have so much time to spend.
By including the glossary in tge NEWBIES thread, it gives the poster an additional incentive to read the thread and get up to speed.
Before Coupon-mad wrote the thread, we were doing Groundhog day time and time again. That has been a great reference for lots of people who have won at POPLA.
Yes, it could be improved and simplified but that would take some time and no one would necessarily agree on the absolute version.
As long as newbies show they have read it and come back with specific points of clarification, they get loads of help.0
