We were in Florida with our Nationwide Credit and Debit cards, we had advised them of our trip and didn't have any problems until we went to use my husbands credit card and it wouldn't work. Received a phone call from Nationwide a few hours later to tell us that there had been suspicious transactions on our account. Turns out the card had been cloned and someone had racked up over $3,500 on it. Nationwide had spotted this really quickly, remimbursed our card so we weren't out of pocket.

I always let them know when we are going abroad, I do it through my on-line banking and it only takes a minute. It is not worth the worry of having the cards stopped whilst on holiday as we rely on them for withdrawing cash and for making purchases.
