iTunes music onto Sony Xperia phone?

This is probably a silly question, but as I don't know whether the obvious answer is 'yes' or 'no' I'll ask it anyway.

I have over 1,000 songs in my iTunes library, mostly CD downloads but also some bought ones. I do have iCloud which shows the music as being stored in there. (You might sense that I'm not very confident about the capabilities of iCloud, and never quite sure whether it does what it is meant to.)

Having just bought a Sony Xperia phone with a SD card slot, I'm wondering whether it is possible and/or allowed to save my iCloud music onto my Sony?

Not sure if it is the property of Apple or something? I don't want to lose it from my iPhone, so it's just making another copy really.

If this is okay, please is there an idiot's guide somewhere as to how to do it? :o

hi mate, there is a piece of software called Xperia Transfer (works with Sony companion) that will do exactly that. Just search on Google for it and you will find a simple step by step guide.

    hope this helps

The Xperia is seen as a standard disk drive by Windows, so what's wrong with simply copying the music through Windows Explorer?

The only issue I can potentially see is that the standard music player on the Xperia may not be able to decode the AAC format used by Apple, but a 3rd party music player (such as PowerAmp) will soon solve that.

Another possibility, and I think it'll work better than the above one time solutions, is a free program (Windows or Mac) called Double Twist. This basically allows you to use that precious iTunes library, locked to iDevices, with any other devices - Android tablets, phones, even USB sticks.
It takes a while to import the iTunes libray at first, but once it has, you've got the playlists and everything available just like in iTunes, and it keeps everything SYNCED instead of just doing a one time copy.

Thank you very much one and all. It's actually a Xperia Z Ultra (a 'phablet' - phone and tablet combi), but presumably the same operating systems etc. apply? Still getting the hang of its capabilities but so far so good.

I'll check out Double Twist when I have a bit more time, just off out now.

Yup, it's just Android, same as any other modern Xperia phone, tablet or phablet!
