Creative ZEN Vision:M 30GB MP3

Fair enough, then explain why hard disk drive capacities of mp3 players (and even sky+ boxes) have gone up and keep going up from since they were invented?
Have they..? Have they really...?
20gb MP3 players have been around since 2001/2002 - so if they'd continued to increase capacity at the rate of technology advancement, the popular players today should be 100gb+...But they're not...and that's not because they couldn't be (there *are* 100gb players out there)...it's just because most people don't need all that space...
(well that, and apple spoiling the market, but let's not go there...)
Capacities of PVR boxes are still increasing because people *do* demand more storage for that amount of video.0 -
Would it not have more to do with the size limitations of keeping things portable? 1.8" drives don't really go to massive capacities, they only just hit 100gb 6 months ago

I've got about 20gb of music on my PC, i had 30gb on my old creative Zen Xtra (before it died) but it wasn't all backed up. I wouldn't have bought another 30gb Zen, since I'd want more space.
So.. i wouldn't expect people on their first media player to want more than 30gb, but after you're on your 2nd / 3rd, you may want more capacity0 -

I haven't investigated the electronics on the Zen V or any of the other components, but I would expect that the Zen V has the charging circuitry. It may be able to cope with power from a PC (which is essentially working as a huge step down transformer) but 12V from a car may kill it, if it's not got a step down transformer in it.
I also can't remember which rail from the PC power supply the USB ports go to - I would expect the 5V one.
Cheers,

I'm still rather confused!
I have a Navman SatNav which can be charged using a USB cable or using an in-car charger that has the same fitting as the connection to the Zen V. Does that mean I could use the SatNav car charger to charge the Zen V? Sorry if I'm being thick here!!0
