Creative ZEN Vision:M 30GB MP3

I can get the 60GB Zen for £144 from amazon with a 2-3 week wait using a Gift Certificate. I have the Ipod 30GB Video at the moment, now is it worth me upgrading to the Zen and selling the Ipod?0

I've just had to send my zen vision M 30GB back to amazon as it is faulty. They can't replace it as they have none in stock so I'm getting a refund.
I'd still like to get one (30GB or 60GB) - does anybody have any idea where the best prices are at present?0 -
I'd hang on and get the 60gb version. At £159 from Amazon, that's hard to beat. You get the odd lemon with all manufacturers, be it Creative, Apple or BMW. Soundwise you will not be disappointed (with a good 'un  )0

Seems that the 60gb at £159 is quite easily beaten by the 30gb for £95 on tesco direct (if it ever turns up)...I think 30gb (at a time) is more than enough for 99% of people...0

Slightly off topic but can someone advise please?
I'm eagerly awaiting delivery of a Creative Zen V which I notice is charged from the USB connection of my pc. I've seen that you can buy mains chargers but the Creative Zen appears to prefer a genuine charger only. I'd quite like to charge the Zen through the car socket when I go on holiday and wondered whether I can just buy any old USB in-car charger to use.
Any experiences??
Thanks in advance.0 -

Fair enough, then explain why hard disk drive capacities of mp3 players (and even sky+ boxes) have gone up and keep going up from since they were invented?...mmmm  People will always want MORE space to get their ever increasing downloaded music, photos and video (which this plays) stored. But yes, it also depends on how much music you have, and what quality you want to listen to it. 60gb lets you have loads of mp3's at 320kpb bitrates. That's the least compression available, which means very near CD quality. They sound absolutely fantastic on this player! The larger file sizes incurred, however, means that they use up disk space more quickly. Hence the benefits of having a larger capacity to start with. If you download and listen to mp3's at 128kpb or less on a regular basis, you may as well buy the cheapest Taiwanese model going as the sound would be wasted on this unit.0 -
KEM...
I think you'll need a dedicated car charging unit for that particular model or you may have voltage problems which can permanently damage your Zen V. Check ebay out. The mains chargers for my Zen V+ and Vision M were bought from ebay and work fine.0 -
I been looking for a cradle/charger/transmitter all in one for one, but having problems as most stuff if for the Ipod, and there connection is different way round0

I don't really understand how the charging works - if the Zen V plugs directly into the USB port on my pc and charges how is this different to plugging into a USB "port" on an in-car charger (ie one of those things you plug into the cigarette lighter that has a USB "hole" in the top)? Where in the Zen V/cable/pc/in-car charger is the charger control?0 -

KEM,
I haven't investigated the electronics on the Zen V or any of the other components, but I would expect that the Zen V has the charging circuitry. It may be able to cope with power from a PC (which is essentially working as a huge step down transformer) but 12V from a car may kill it, if it's not got a step down transformer in it.
I also can't remember which rail from the PC power supply the USB ports go to - I would expect the 5V one.
Cheers,
S0
