Boiler installer hasn't notified Gas Safe or Building Control

I had a new WB boiler in February and was given the paperwork immediately. I then registered my warranty, with WB, online and got an emailed confirmation of details.0

It's probably worth emphasising that the "boiler book" I referred to is the Benchmark Log Book, which is an important document that is supposed to be kept with the boiler.
He took it away with him and said he would put it back through the door "in a few days".
This book is my property and I can't see any valid reason for him retaining it.0 -
evilcartman, we had a new boiler fitted on the 1st May,the installer said he would sort out the paperwork,22 days later we received a letter from Heateam saying that the boiler is now registerd for 2 years for warranty and that they had informed Building Control on our behalf.
We asked the installer about the extra warranty that we had payed for and he said oh that comes from a different place and he would sort it out! My wife thought that this was not right but he came back this week and drained the system of chemical cleaner and replaced it with additive, checked the system and before he left gave me an envelope with the certificate for the extra 5 years!
Hope you sort yours out.

My paperwork was a receipt for payment, warrantying various items like, radiators, thermostat etc and the' boiler book' which has sections to be signed at each annual service and contains details of fitting and by whom.0 -
normally the installer won't notify The LA it's Gas Safe that notify's them, so your RGI should reg the boiler with GS within 30 days then a few weeks later you get your cert, so you still have time, I'm not sure why he took the benchmark away with him though as the readings are done at the commisioning stageI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

That's been my impression too. I've had a member of staff admit to me that there is no action they can take if an RGI fails to notify within the deadline.southcoastrgi wrote:I'm not sure why he took the benchmark away with him though as the readings are done at the commisioning stage
I'm baffled by this one as well. The more I've investigated the boiler installation procedures, the less reason I can find for him taking the book away.
I have now discussed the matter with Building Control, who say they will contact him so let's see what happens next.0 -
My paperwork from gas safe and the LA dropped through the door yesterday, exactly 7 weeks from my installation. Don't know if that's typical.
And I don't know if not signing the book on the day is normal, or even acceptable to the trade, but I would not have paid the final bill until I saw it signed off in my presence, which it was in my case.
I thing Stebiz is being very patient with you by the way, I would have reacted differently, people are trying to help you, take it out on the installer not us.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
The RGI has been in touch to say he's doing the registration today. Thanks for the help and support, everyone.
@cyclonebri1, your definition of 'patient' seems to be at odds with mine. I found Stebiz's initial Michael Winner-style "calm down, dear" approach to be somewhat patronising and unhelpful, and called him out on it. I was quick to thank him once he changed tack and I defy you to find a single example of me having issues with anyone else in the thread. The clash with Stebiz was over and done with yesterday and there was no need at all for you to stick your oar in.0 -

So assuming he's not telling porkies, that's well within 30 working days then?0
