No - they are not a monopoly. They are acting, however, with very little downward pressure on their prices. Time will tell how it will play out. If they start to *act* like a monopoly, it could eventually attract the attention of governments like Microsoft did. All these large powerful companies seem to go down the same self destruct route.

Sellers caused Ebay to put Fee's on postage.

Sellers selling items for 10p with £5.90 postage.

Reality was these were £5 items which cost £1 for P&P.

To stop this Ebay charge seller fees across the lot. They can do what they like its not illegal and its sellers who are at fault for it happening. Sellers defrauding ebay of their fees.

How about reading ballisticbrian's viewpost.gif post correctly? You don't know what other sellers (heaven forbid perhaps less virtuous than yourself) have added to their prices to cover postage if free postage is offered.

This is meandering way off-topic so I'm out of this one.

Point taken- although I did say in my post it's not always obvious that sellers overcharge.
I think most buyers are like myself though - they don't bother looking at the individual item and postage costs, but just take the total combined amount and decide if that's what the item is worth - and hence prepared to pay.
