Hi all SPCers, I hope everyone's well and not melted due to that blistering heat! Thoughts to all those of you in the London/East areas, it must be awful. BTW, It's so wonderful this year to see so many potters consistently potting throughout the summer soooooo well, it usually falls off a lot once the holidays and heat begin - this year it's just brilliant!!! :T

    £1 potted :)

    And cheers Sue!

Hoping that if I get my head screwed on now it will benefit me in the future. Just trying to get a job now, then get a solid interest savings account set up and a private pension to start contributing too overtime. ;)

Thanks for the welcome Sue xx I will have a look at the 1st page for my number.

    Trixxibell xx

Ah....about that, Trixxibell and NewbieJosh - I know you're both focusing hard on saving, but PLEASE could you both kindly pop your SPC Nos on your signatures for me?!! Thanks a lot. :)

It's lovely to see you back in full flow again, Kerry, I missed your name when you weren't here. :D

I'm glad they're both much better now, jakes-mum. Congratulations on your DH's fantastic weight loss!!! :j

I'm glad your menfolk are better Jakes-mum, there's nothing worse than a sick male in the house unless it's two!

I couldn't have put it better myself, Modesty, why is it men are so strong and manly with almost everything, yet become such wimps when it comes to illness?!!

Hiya GAP! I'm pleased to hear your and little miss Gap have had a nice break...and back saving hard. Keep hard at it - and yes, every penny indeed!

Oh dear, Meowhouse, I hope puss 2 is soon feeling much better and free from pain. :(

A tiny 2p for me, but 2p I wouldn't otherwise have saved if it weren't for my pots, bless em. :D
Have a REALLY GREAT WEEKEND, everyone, and keep right on track with your savings!!!

*sigh* why is it so hard to explain to my 13 year old that you have to WORK for the things you want to buy? His 6 year old sister gets it, but I've just spent 2 hrs trying to get him to realise that £100 is not just going to fall out of the sky and he will have to find ways to earn the money, even gave him ideas on who to *ahem* help who might be amenable to some monetary gratitude, but he can't get past how much time he'll have to spend doing 'boring' stuff

Seriously! I'm beginning to think he was switched at birth, if he didn't look so much like me I'd swear we weren't related :rotfl: how can he be the spit of me but be nothing like me, yet his sister is the spit of her dad but can put me to shame with her miserly . . . . Umm I mean MSE ways!

Grr just had to vent about that as I feel like I'm banging my head on a wall, lazy doesn't even begin to describe that child, should have known I was in trouble when the doctors had to force him out 10 days overdue!! :rotfl:

No more pennies, purse is empty :(

Welcome to you imapoet (love the name by the way!!)....you are MOST welcome to Join....make sure you read the very first Post on Page One, that will tell you all the Rules and stuff....and then Sue (our beloved Leader) will be along to give you your very own number which you just need to pop on your Sig (please ask if you're not sure how to do that!!)....

And then all you need to do is make sure you update us...and let us know how you are getting on....

Welcome again and I hope to see lots more of you over the coming Months....xXx

I'm only Potting a miserable 11p this morning...BUT, as our lovely Sue pointed out, it wouldn't be in my Pot if I weren't Potting...so I can't complain!! And I shall Pot it and be grateful for it....

I'm MELTING in this heat....I'm actually thinking of wearing Shorts when I go out later this morning and I rarely wear shorts out of my Flat as they just make me look fat...but, needs must and all that.....I'd rather wear shorts than die in this heat!! No thunderstorms here as of yet...at least none that I've heard....well, except for the ones in the VERY early hours of Friday Morning....but none last night....Let's hope they turn up soon and take the humidity out of the air...it's AWFUL!!

Take care everyone and I shall hopefully come back with more Potting soon :D

Hopefully a few £'s to pot later once I put the lottery on.

    Enjoy the weekend.

Helen, i'm sorry to say, we had thunder storms last night with thunder, lightening, rain, the whole lot. The air is just as humid, i think it even feels worse now that it's raining. I've decided to come to work with my beloved air con because i just can't stand it.

I have a whole purse full of coins to pot. Woo hoo!! I went out for a drink with the OH last night and he asked if i had 80p in change to pay the lady  Does he not know my pot NEEDS that 80p!! Goodness!!

Good morning everyone and thank you all for your very kind welcome messages. Just been acquainting myself with the rules and came across "roadkill" - I found a pound (as poetic as I get this early in the day I'm afraid) on the walkway into a large supermarket last week - I never find anything so saw this as a bit of an omen. Took the coin to the lotto desk with the intention of buying a lotto ticket in the hope that I would win a fortune and share it out with all my family - only to find that a lotto ticket is £2 these days!! That's how often I buy them! Anyway, to relieve my guilt pangs at not handing in the found pound I emptied all my little coins into the charity box on the counter. You will by now have guessed that, as I've joined the Sealed Pot Challenge, the ticket was not a winner! Hey ho, that's life!

  • Hello imapoet

Welcome to this lively thread! I can understand your feelings of guilt about the 'roadkill' pound but don't feel guilty. If you hadn't picked it up someone else would have. Pot it!

Well we had thunder, lightning and torrential rain during the (very sticky) night and it's still raining now so is lovely and cool (sorry for the peeps still suffering though :() I was going to walk to the village for some veg but I think I'll just make do with what we have rather than get soaked. So....no change to pot... but that makes an NSD :)

Have a lovely Saturday, Sue and chums x

Hi Little-Sweetie, thank you for the welcome, and apologies to all I may not have answered - I am still finding my feet. We have a little rain up here but nothing like the storms you've had down south - commiserations to anyone who has suffered loss - we would love to see the fabulous thunder and lightening show but dreading another "Thunder Thursday" - we had that a couple of years ago and really suffered a lot of damage - could do without it again.

    Stay dry!
