I have rung them and found out the details of the company involved and the years that I paid it.
Could you please explain what you mean by a two tier complaint?
    Thanks.

You have two complaints one to CPP as part of the scheme now running that takes you from 2005 to now or if cancelled earlier .
Before 2005 the complaints are a separate complaint that is taken up with the relevant bank .

  • I have just received my letter and I started paying for cpp in 1991 but I did not pay through the bank. After telephoning cpp to find out when I last paid they told me it was on my credit card and as I have traced bank statements back a few years and it does not appear on there, who do I write to. Martin's templates say for pre 2005 write to the bank, but if I did not pay through the bank I am unsure who to write to. Do I go straight to the financial ombudsman? Any help requested

You complain to your credit card provider , these CPP payments were either a yearly installment of monthly .
Statements for your credit card would show this not everyone including myself knew or even spotted that we were being charged , I have to confess that I did not check every statement .:o

  • I had a policy with CPP since around 1992 sold initially via a Halifax credit card. I've received a cheque following my recent claim for only 2 years (ie, from 2005-2007). I feel this is unfair as I have actually used CPP for around 15 years! I understand pre-2005 should be directly to the bank, however Halifax's website states "some Halifax customers purchased card protection through cpp before 2005 and continued to hold the product after 2005. These customers will be offered compensation through the scheme". Should I therefore write to Halifax as a separate claim under CPP or return the cheque to CPP and start a dispute resolution?
