Is Dolby ProLogic II used on Philips HTB 3510?

I have a Philips HTB3510 Bluray Home Cinema 5.1 system set up at home connected to a Technika HD box on coaxial digital connection and I have selected multichannel in Surround setting which gives great 5.1 like effects on stereo and Dolby Surround material almost sounding almost as real as pukka true 5.1 material on HD output where that is broadcast.

However on mono material on DVD's of old mono films and tv shows there is some slight leakage of dialogue on all channels and there is NO selectable movie and music modes for the multichannel setting for Surround mode as you find in DPL-II equipment , when you'd assume it would all come from the centrechannel only on mono material.

The CD-ROM manual only mentions Dolby Digital Plus and True DTS HD in the spec, no mention of DPL-II at all;is there a trend to integrate Dolby Pro Logic II into Dolby Digital so DPL-II can be dropped from consumer gear to simplify technical standards into one to make things a lot easier for manufacture and save on manufacturing costs?;)

Wow, well I don't have an answer to your question (have you tried avforums.com ?) but surely the solution to this would just be to switch to plain old 'stereo' so that you've just got the front L and R channels.

Apparently i've contacted philips by email and they've got back to me on this and can confirm that the unit I have DOES indeed have Dolby Pro Logic II fitted and available in Multi-Channel mode and the bleed of dialogue to all speakers depends on the tv programme/disc soundtrack and isn't a fault with the unit. I played a film I recorded to DVD from Skydigital off the old Movies4Men2 channel and it wasn't Dolby Stereo or Dolby Digital but it has the most exciting dynamic soundtrack I have heard from any non surround sound film when played in Multichannel mode. Auto mode gives 2 channel stereo, 5.1 surround and mono depending on the source.;)
