I have a old account for a £6.50 sim only contract that was with Tesco mobile, (it was one of the children's phones ).

A couple of years ago I got them a new phone on contract when they started secondary school and I thought this account had been closed down(my wife rang to ask them to close it, as the main account holder they said I had to ring which I did later only to be told it had been done earlier) (the only way I accessed this was online , no paper statements etc).
Anyway roll on 6 months and when getting a new card and updating all my payment on the online banking to check who had card details etc I notices an amount still being taken for the phone (this was only 6.50 so hadn't noticed it before).

I logged in online to check and yes it was still being taken, I accessed the chat window to resolve this, and spoke to a young lady on the phone, she closed the account and in fact checked for me and said she could see the account hadn't been used at all in that timeframe and told me it was closed and that that months charged were wiped as a goodwill gesture, we even discussed I should write to see if I could get back the last 6 months (something I never got round to doing).

well fast forward just over a year and I have recently checked my credit file (I haven't had cause to take out any new credit for a while so haven't checked it before this) only to see 6 late payments and a default for £6.50 for Tesco mobile.

On communicating with them it seems the last payment wasn't wiped as the lady stated on the last contact (a bill was generated that day apparently >?) and they defaulted the account a few months later.

At first when I emailed them the customer adviser sent me an email saying he had sent it over to the credit team to be removed, so I thought that was it, as the email clearly stated they would remove it, but now despite me detailing the events they say they will not remove it what can I do?

who do I go to to try and get his removed, it only £6.50 but having an impact on my otherwise clean credit file.

I never even had a credit product with Tesco only a pay as you go sim.(does this even help my case as all )
I didn't access the online account after thinking it was closed and they didn't have my new card details to take a last payment (which should have been wiped) they never wrote to the home address and I think most of there emails must have gone to my junk folder as I never get any emails from them the whole time I was with them.

Is there anything can do, I've asked them to listen to the last call so they can see I was clearly told it was wiped and shut but they don't seem to be bothering to do this. :-(

any advice ??

It not being a credit account won't make any difference.

How was the last communication from them to you done?, this bit
but now despite me detailing the events they say they will not remove it what can I do?

If everything has been done by email/phone so far then I would write a written postal complaint.
