I used to get calls from V*daphone so I blocked them on my iphone. Problem is it then used to go straight to voicemail and leave me a message, so each message used to cost to retrieve and then it was just a recorded message. Grrr.

    No win situation.

The trouble with a call blocker is that it doesn't block the first time caller - many of these pests have twigged onto this and move numbers frequently or generate fake numbers. There is no "work" to my method, I don't have to move until I decide that it is a genuine call, when they start to leave a message.

I found a better use for for the cost of a call blocker - in Waitrose's wine dept ! :D:D

but once your wines gone its gone, the call blocker would be there to stay, i understand not everyone is bothered by these calls but some of us are plagued by them,or in my case used to be plagued by them
the call blocker gives me the satisfaction that they will never bother me again on that number, nuisance calls to my number have definitely almost stopped now.
anyway back to the thread, here are some of the numbers i have blocked

    03303500451
    01483281108
    01642356197

    0239238668

quite a few of the above numbers have tried to phone me more than once on the same number according to the call blocker

Add Postcode Lottery to your list 0131 243 4958.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Thanks for all the numbers folks - amazing! :)

When I add numbers I realised if doing bulk you can just keep adding them if doing multiples ie if you want to add 0871 and 0870 just press **7#[wait for beep]0871# then straight away **7#[wait for beep]0870#. I use hands free so you can relax a bit and hear the beeps properly (previously I was hanging up the phone and then starting afresh with the next number I wanted blocked).

I block all these 08 numbers now because they're all pretend (totally false) and I don't like them. If it's important (cancer, lottery win or death) they'll get in touch somehow. Not blocking these new 03* range because I'm not sure if they're proper lines.

    New number tonight: 02973680545

Blocked all 0297 for future reference.

First scum caller like this for many many months. Qucik Google brings up the usual suspects http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/02973680545

It was only a few rings.

I seen on QVC that CPR have a new blocker Protect+ which actually blocks everything except numbers you have preprgrammed (white list).

It does sound a little extreme but it also sounds like heaven!
