Great idea for a thread. I can't think of anything that I'm wondering about at the moment, but I'm sure if I rack my brains, I will think of something.0

Ooh, good thread!
I've been wondering for some time how the 'expired' thing works - sometimes when I click the button a closed competition goes straight to Game Over, but other times it stays on the main board. Does it need several people to report a competition as closed before it moves, I wonder?Back after a very long break!0 -
Yes, it takes several clicks to move it (we are not to say/guess how many).
A BG can move a large number at once.0 -

Thanks mjm and firefly - that's that minor puzzle solved! :TBack after a very long break!0

Thanks mjm - that is quite an interesting read. I'm not sure I have as much invested in the issue as that poor person on that thread who simply couldn't get an answer to what is, in my opinion anyway, an utterly reasonable question! I quite understand that some people object to swearing - fair enough - but the days of the fruitier words being the exception rather than the rule are now long gone. I'm thinking 'The Thick of It'
I am not shocked or offended by any word or combination of words and I think the blocking of one character to avoid it being used as a substitution in a nasty wude word is rather silly in an adult forum. Maybe that's just me.
In any event - my question is answered and for that I thank you all0 -
I've got one!
Why do some posters put theicon at the side of the comp they are posting?
Is it because they think:
1, It's a good comp
2, It's a unusual comp
3, They would love to win it
4, It's worth a lot of money
5, It's code some people have been let into to not enter because the poster wants to win
6, They wanted to brighten up the comp board
5, They were board & thought they would post afor variety
I've often wanted to ask the posters who do this

xxxI put a
puzzler.com competitions - regularly updated
next to puzzler thread to help highlight
it as when it first started peeps were always looking for it :rotfl::D
the triangleis usually used when posting comps that have a short ending date or next day/day after ending date/
sometimes used to
[STRIKE]hilite[/STRIKE]
highlight
an unusual comp as well
i'm never sure after all these years why someone puts theicon,
think it's horrible :rotfl:please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
It's a good question Luckyone. I have noticed the different smilies and whatnot at the side of comp posts - must have mentally filed it under 'things I do not understand but might at some time in the future'. That file is quite full now!0
