Santander 123 Current Account & TopCashback/Quidco

I've had a run through the T&Cs of cashback & all i see is you're to 'switch' your account to Santander (instead of the old just opening the account).

I've tried to see if there's some sort of requirement - such as the account being switched needs to have x-number of standing orders or x-number of direct debits, or even both ... but i can't find anything saying that.


Standing orders could be set up in a second, direct debits would take a bit longer.


As i wont be the only one to have switched under these new terms, is there anyone here in the know as to what the account needs to have in place before the switching?

its funny you mention this, i didnt even switch and they still paid me TCB

iirc, you just need to "switch" an account, but id always have a few SO/DD to switch to make sure they will pay.

Hmm i don't really want to take the chance with not switching.

If i can avoid the faff of setting up direct debits then i'd like to. I know it's only a few days, but if i can do it later on today with a couple SOs then that would be preferred.

Would like to hear from anyone else who's done this. Did you need both (SO & DD) or just one?

When I 'switched', I didn't switch any SOs or DDs and still got the payout, although that was months ago and things may have changed since.

Considering you need DDs for the interest, might be easier to just set them up now though?

Fair point actually.

Do they need to be to different organisations like with some other criteria? All my d/ds are sorted with 1 account & i don't want to start messing about with them.

If possible, i could set up a couple of saving direct debits for this secondary account, depends whether they have to be to different organisations or not.

Only different mandates, not different organisations.

and they don't need to be paid out. Just showing up in the DD list.

I do, but they're all with my other Santander 123 account.

How long should it take for these DDs to show up? I thought 3 days?

I set it up at the start of last week. Tesco savings & then the following day PayPal. Neither are showing as DDs in my account.

I think it usually takes a while to appear. took around 5-7 working days for mine.

Well it's STILL not appeared. Ample time.

The account is probably blocked no doubt since i withdrew £4,990 leaving just £10 to cover direct debits.

Oh well i'll just close the whole lot then.
