They use the same network as EE or known as Orange before the merger, can you not get a monthly sim and try it out ?0

That's a good idea - I might try a monthly sim. Orange has given me good coverage in Cornwall so if they use the same network it might be fine. Thanks!0

Your coverage will be identical.I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

I live in south Wales and my Virgin coverage has just vanished altogether. I have also spent over an hour on the phone to Customer Services on 0845 numbers trying unsuccessfully to resolve this. Eventually I had to tell them what I think the problem is - Virgin uses the EE network and EE seem to be switching all their transmitters over to 4G and cutting off the 3G and less networks to try to get all their customers to sign up for the more expensive 4G contracts. I suspect the same may be happening across the UK including Cornwall. The Virgin online coverage map showed I should have some service but the EE map shows clearly that there is nothing except 4G coverage now. And Virgin don't support 4G coverage!! Woopsie. Anyway the Indian call centre eventually agreed that they might escalate this but I am not holding my breath, I am just looking for another provider.0

Virgin is a virtual operator on the EE network. Your coverage will be the same as on EE with the exception that you can't use the 4g network at this time.
EE are towards the end of their process to consolidate their legacy Tmobile and Orange systems and I believe the following to be true:-
The Tmobile 2g network has been decomissioned
The Orange 2g network is still running.
The Tmobile 3g network (MNBL shared with Three) is their primary 3g network now.
The Orange 3g network has very few masts left that havent been decomissioned or added to the Tmobile/Three 3g network. The final ones of these are still being turned off.
So if you have been using an orange 3g mast then it is possible it has been turned off recently.
EE's 4g network is separate again and they haven't been turning off 3g to accommodate 4g.0 -
