You can only get this sorted by advising the creditors that you mother did this without your informed consent.
Which is a lie. Going down this route will not end well.

EDIT: Apologies, I missed the word 'informed' in your post.

I still don't think OP would have any truck with this, s/he was legally old enough to sign a contract of that type and unless anything was disclosed at the time that could impact on her ability to fully understand the terms (such as an illness / disability) then I don't see any mileage in what you're saying. As I said above, naivety is not an excuse.

I feel I have to comment on this.

I could easily have controlled what post my kids received, they simply were not around when it arrived, they were either in bed or out at work.

Letters don't come every day. I am pretty sure I bet them to the post 99% of the time, either due to them being out early or up late. It is entirely possible, and don't forget that a lot of people let you have paperless communication now (don't know if catalogues do as I don't trust them enough to use them.)
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
  • My husband's parents did this to him. As a result we have been shouldering a debt of quite a considerable sum.

I completely understand the whole wanting to shop her in but feeling reluctant because she's your mum.
