Parents using my credit rating

Hi
I am looking for some advice with regards to a situation which has ruined my credit rating and becoming ever more growing frustrating.
I am now 23 and at about the age of 18-19 my mother asked to put a catalogue in my name. Now forgive me if I sound pretty stupid but at that age I wasn't so clued up about the whole credit rating system. I was just under the impression if you don't pay bailiffs come and take your stuff. , so I agreed as long as it was paid back. Now coming of age I need to use my credit rating. I noticed about a year ago I couldn't get credit for anything so eventually signed up for experian to check my file and found 4 defaults from 4 different catalogue companies with a total debt of around £2500.
The advice I need to know is there anyway to get these defaults and debts shifted from my account.
Would there be a way to move it to my mothers name and address with or without legal action.
or
settling the debt in full and then explaining circumstances to the lenders with the hope it could be removed.
Thank you for any help.

What date are the defaults ?0

Your mum has committed fraud by using someone else's name to obtain credit, which is a criminal offence. You're in one tough position, because for you to have any hope of removing these defaults, you'd need to declare that to the company - but of course you were complicit in the fraud as well and would probably be in bother too.
You've two options, as I see it:
a) "Suck it up" and live with the defaults, perhaps trying to persuade your mum unofficially to give you money to pay them off and then waiting until they fall off your account after 6 years;
b) Attempt to resolve this through the creditors and courts and land your mum and yourself in a heap of bother.
Not a nice situation to be in but unfortunately your naivety at the age of 18-19 will not serve as an excuse."Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."0 -

Also, seems sneaky of your mum to do this in the first place asking a naive young man to open a catalogue then not paying any back.. do you know why she couldn't/didn't pay?
Your mum's acted very poorly in the circumstances. Had she done this without you knowing, then I'd be very tempted to report her. However as you agreed to the situation, then it's a difficult one, as any attempt to flag up what she's done will lead to trouble for yourself."Facism arrives as your friend. I assume that your mother also removes every item of post that arrives for you before you have ever had a chance of seeing it. Must have taken some doing.0

Poor form on your mothers part.0

You can only get this sorted by advising the creditors that you mother did this without your informed consent.0

Wow, that is awful. I think I would actually tell the creditor/catalogue that it was your mother, and try and sort it out with the credit agencies. Maybe even see the CAB. She didn't think much of what she was doing to you when she messed about with YOUR credit rating, so why should you care about getting her called to account for it?
My wife's best friend has a poor credit record after going bankrupt and she is desperate to get a catalogue, but can't. Her daughter who is 22 said she can take it out in her name, but she refuses; in case something goes wrong; ie a payment is missed or something and it affects her daughter's credit rating. THAT is how you should be treating your children, not buying stuff under their names and not paying for it!
What your mother did is not good.She needs to be made accountable for it.
You didn't, did you? :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

I feel I have to comment on this.
I could easily have controlled what post my kids received, they simply were not around when it arrived, they were either in bed or out at work.
Bpt21 - if you no longer live at home I would write to all the credit reference agencies and tell them she did this without your consent, giving them your mother's details. I would also write to the catalogue companies and tell them you did not order the items and refer them to your mother.
My basis for saying this? I am a mother of two kid starting out on their own, renting homes and having kids. I would NEVER have done this to them. She didn't think about the repercussions for you so I don't think you should worry about what will happen to her if you tell them.
If you don't live at home then you have a problem, if you did this you may be kicked out.What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
