CEO email. He will pass you on no doubt but it's worth it if you get a foot in the door:beer:0 -
I have just had the same thing happen to me. Account disabled! The forum was the Punta Cana forum in the Dominican Republic (DR). There are 3 bully boys from Canada and the DR and if they do not agree with what you post you get shouted down and they click on your posts as inappropriate content. Three clicks and it gets deleted.
This has been going on for a long time and eventually the account gets disabled.0 -
The question I asked on another Forum was has anybody had their Trip Advisor account disabled then reconnected. So far no one have given a "yes" response. Maybe someone will do so on this post.0

Yes! Last year sometime, this same account was disabled. I created a new account to contact them and they eventually explained to me that I had been using too many links in my post, and that somebody had complained saying I was violating TA rules
I do know how that came about, because I was using less than many. However I think it was one of the bully boys complaining after I had posted my credentials and he took exception to my background. Anyway after a few backwards and forwards comments to the TA person (I said I would desist ) whom was dealing with the account, it was reinstated it.
By the way, I have used the help email address provided somewhere on here and sent a diplomatic letter to them asking them to reactivate the account and advising that if they feel they cannot do that, I will be sending the very same letter by email and by post to the CEO. The contents of the email talk about the bully boy tactics used by the Punta Cana Destination Experts. Just after I sent them the email at lunch time, I received a response letter with a case number and will have to wait and see. If I get a negative response then I will be going up the food chain to the CEO.0 -
Additional information:
There is a small time competitor called "Fodor's Travel". Here is a link to the problem about people having their accounts disabled.

Perhaps if more people posted there it might make a few peoples eyes water. There again it might not!
You will note this thread is quoted already.0 -
At the end of the day, it is their website and they can say who can or cannot post on it.
Does sound like they may be getting pressure from somewhere in big business, with people posting iffy reviews, which TBH with some of the ones I have seen they are so petty, it makes me baulk. Stayed in Village hotel last night, which was amazing, one of the upper deck rooms, really nice for the price. Looked on TA and people were posting pictures of a speck of dust and a stain on the carpets which were about a 5p size and giving them a 2 for cleanliness. Way OTT to me. Is a bit like this website to me, full of pettiness on some threads.0 -
I sent a PM to the TA staff member who seems to look after the 'stickies' in the Help Make Trip Advisor Better Forum (or not).
Asked really nicely if he could possible advise on the correct avenue of communication for TA users whose accounts had been banned/disabled. That once the IP address had been barred, they did not seem to be able to appeal, but if he couldn't suggest anything fair enough and thank you anyway.
Got an incredibly snotty response telling me in no uncertain terms that this particular TA person was on vacation, they are all busy people, not always in the office, and NOT to use PM's to ask such questions anyway.
Stank of 'we can do exactly as we please'. Trouble is, there's no real competition for TA out there & until there is that attitude is a shame, but true.
Sorry for those who have been 'binned' though.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
I have just had my account reinstated. I had to promise to be a good boy to get the "temporary disabled" account reinstated. I did not care to point out it was the 3 bully boys on the Dominican Republic Punta Cana forum that were the ones responsible for my account being disabled.
It appears that TA have got the message about these 3 individuals because several others have complained about them and one of them now has his account disabled.
Note 1. This is the second time I have had the same account disabled and each time after explaining what is happening on their forums they have reinstated me.
Note 2. If anyone needs to contact TA admin staff without having a current active TA forum user account, about any matter or to complain about individuals and have had their accounts disabled, all you need to do is contact them directly on help@tripadvisor.com or support@tripadvisor.com
Note 3. If you feel aggrieved and get no joy from the admin staff and wish to send a letter to the CEO in the USA, the address is as follows:
From their web site:
Stephen Kaufer, CEO
Trip Advisor
141 Needham Street
Newton, MA 02464
I am not sure, but I read somewhere that his email is kaufor@tripadvisor.com I have not tried it!

My account was disabled by Trip advisor. After some research i was able to find out the reson why. Both my daughter and myself have seperate TA accounts. It seems when my daughter came and stayed our house and posted a review on her account on my PC. This posting automatically disabled both hers and mine Trip advisor accounts. Apparently you are only allowed to use one TA account on each computer which I understand is picked by an IP number, It makes no difference if it is two entirely different people posting on their accounts. Is that correct. She has been unable to enter her TA account now on her own lap top at her home0

That's a fairly obvious procedure to prevent people creating multiple accounts and then posting on them all from the same IP address, to boost their own ratings.
The system cannot know who is actually posting. No free lunch, and no free laptop
