Free Stamps from Royal Mail

Received a letter from RM this morning, it had been agreed that I would receive £5.00 + 1st class stamps, which would have covered the £5.47 special delivery cost.
Unable to offer an explination for the delay "Lack of post marks" they included a cheque for £10.00 + appology.
It actually turned out to be an easy to deal with complaint, other companies should take heed of how to deal with complaints!!
Well done to RM here's hoping you get your deliveries sorted sooner rather than later!! ;D ;D0 -
I got a letter back saying that my letter had been delivered in four days - it hadn't according to their website and phone line, so i phoned the number on the letter and checked, no it had been delivered (recorded delivery) after 9 days, so I wrote back to the person who sent me the letter and pointed out that she was mistaken and never heard another thing - unless the letter was lost in the post.0

I will definitely try this one. Just recently a letter I posted, which was lengthy and took a while to write, did not arrive at it's destination. I had to write it over again. I just hope they received it this time!Mortgage Free in 3-T2 : Started at £151,000 Nov. 2009 Mortgage Free Oct 1st 2015

You can make a claim for compensation to the Royal Mail.
It will be helpful if the sender makes the claim, it is also very helpful if they have a "certificate of posting" or a receipt from the post office.
You could possibly make a claims without these but it is probably then at Royal Mails discretion.0 -
I have tried emailing the Royal Mail to complain about non-arrival of 6 letters which I posted from work. I know when and where I posted them, and their response boiled down to "That's OK, we deliver 000s of letters every day so the fact that we lost yours doesn't matter." I emailed a cross response to that, and heard nothing more. I find the same when I complain about non-arrival of letters I know have been sent to me at home: one response from them, then nothing more when I ask for my complaint to be escalated. You can make a claim for compensation to the Royal Mail.

Since they closed all post offices local to home and work, getting certificates of posting is non-trivial, especially if I want to catch the last post of the day.
The letter which I know failed to arrive most recently came from my local hospital, and as a result I missed an appointment. Fortunately they were very understanding, but I could easily have been 'crossed off' the consultant's list for non-attendance.
I know I need to write to PostWatch: it's finding the time!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
It is worth claiming, and make sure you read the small print. I have just received £250 from RM for a lost special delivery item.
Only when I went to claim for this did I relaise the limitations of the service. The guarantee is next working day. If it is not delivered to the recipient by 9 or 12 whichever you paid for you can claim the cost of postage only. If you have time sensitive post, then you need to pay for extra insurance.
In this instance I was very lucky as it was tickets, and if they'd arrived within 10 days I could only have claimed the postage back, but she'd have missed the concert, but as they never arrived I was able to claim the full compensation, (but had to prove the amount of value in the envelope).
I didn't know you could claim for regular mail, but now I always check my Special Delivery items for time of delivery and will claim if they aren't delivered by 12.
It took almost 2 months to get the cheque though. It came yesterday
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.0 -
I sent a mate a CD's in the post - in total they were worth £5 including the first class stamp I used.
I posted the packet using normal delivery because I couldnt be bothered queuing and figured, its only a fiver - I can afford to lose that!
Several days on - the package didnt arrive so after reading this topic, I emailed Royal Mail.
A couple of days later I get a letter of apology and a cheque for £5! They did tell me it was a one off and that they didnt normally pay unless proof was shown.
Fanatastic service - can't complain!
(Plz don't missuse this! Only complain if your case is genuine or you will spoil it for everyone!)Bismillah0 -
I sent an important letter to a friend in July it didnt arrive and caused a lot of bothersome messing about. (tickets for a show)
anyway read this and e mailed them
just got an e mail back asking them to put everything in writing that Id already told them in the E mail
cant be bothered taking it any further but let them know it was a waste of my time and I was not best pleased.0 -
Hmm... phoned the number, listened to lots of announcements, pressed buttons for various menu options, eventually got recording "sorry we are unable to connect your call, please try again later"!
Are they trying to resist claims... who in their right mind would go through that over and over again trying to get connected (at 5p/call)?0
