PAC code and switching - bit confused

I've read a few guides on it but one thing I'm unsure about is as follows:

I'm on a monthly rolling sim only contract with virgin. If I call them and they send me a PAC code, that is all fine. I then want to purchase a sim only deal with tesco. I give tesco the pac code, they transfer the number. But how do I cancel the contract with virgin. Wouldn't there be an overlap where potentially I'm paying for two contracts in a month? Would this then mean I'd have to time this well?

No, the Virgin contract will be cancelled as soon as the PAC is used. there will be a short overlap, from taking out the Tesco contract to the number being transferred but this will only be a few days. In my case I gave Tesco the PAC on a Friday and the number was transferred Monday.

Thanks, thats wonderful. I'll probably move to the tesco network. Got no signal and little to no support (but virgin technician did try tbf but tis EE's fault).
