These sound lovely! Is the shortening/lard essential or can it be substituted?

I use ordinary Stork marg instead and it works fine either the soft one or the block it doesn't seem to make much difference:j

Granola! Daughter has just made an oven tray full, delicious - and would be quite long lasting except it will get eaten before it has the chance.

Have you got a recipe as I've been looking for a good granola recipe?

Add dried fruit and/or nuts and have muesli.

LOL I was going to suggest these too but I know when I make any, I'll have eaten the entire batch before bedtime!

Crumble topping for puddings or casseroles, mix with flour to coat fish or chicken, sling a handful into a smoothie (I use a stick blender to whizz up milk and greek yogurt with banana or avocado, chunks of pineapple, or any soft fruit, maybe add a spoonful of peanut butter with banana, or dessicated coconut with pineapple...), you can add them to hand cream or body lotion for a gentle exfoliating effect, love the idea of putting them in a sock to add to your bath!

I'd make oat milk, oat face mask, or pop some oats into a muslin bag, and put into bath. Lovely soft skin will be the result

When I make a batch, I cook half and freeze the other half as raw dough already shaped to bake. When we run out I only bake half a dozen when the oven is on for something else.

Otherwise I'd eat the whole lot in one go myself.
    Better is good enough.
