Argos cancelled my click & collect - without telling me

I ordered a couple of things from Argos for collection from the store. The system told me that they would arrive in a couple of days and gave me a 48-hour window to go and collect.
I went in, and keyed my number into the machine to find my reservation number was unknown. After queuing for ages, I found that my reservation had been cancelled.
I've no problem with the reservation being cancelled, but why couldn't they configure their system to email or text and let me know. After all, they have my email address and phone number.
I wasted an hour driving to town, plus the cost of parking - just to have a very poor experience. The store was very blase "you should have paid the extra to have it delivered to your house instead of delivery to store"
Ive complained using their online system, and no response received.

Had a similar experience three years ago. We ordered a 7 in 1 football table for my son's Xmas present. It was advertised in the daily papers at half price. I stated when ordering (thanks to Mr Lewis), that I was placing the order with Argos only because they had the item in stock and it would be delivered in time for Christmas.
Got a delivery date of two weeks before Xmas. Then ,two days before delivery was due, I was given a date in January. I had a very interesting phone call, asking them to check the original call and that I had placed the order only as I was told the item was in stock and was available to be delivered before Christmas. I informed them that I was going to source an equivalent which was over £200 more expensive and that Argos would be liable for the difference.
I got the football table on the original delivery date.0 -
