Battery life on Three network not as good as others?
I've just bought a Moto G and want to squeeze as much battery life out of it as possible, am I correct in thinking that because Three is a 3G only network, battery saving apps are likely to be less useful compared to using them on another network because of this?

Nope, shouldn't matter.
The only thing that might influence your battery usage would be the strength of the signal that you're getting. If it's a weak signal, then your phone will use more power to try to hang on to it. This would be the same on any network though.0 -
With no fall back 2g to settle on in weak areas it could be using more battery to keep a weak 3g signal alive. But on the whole it really wont make any difference.0

3 do still have 2G (Orange) fallback for voice & text in certain areas - they just don't advertise it!
2G does use less battery power but signal strength is more pertinent. With no fall back 2g to settle on in weak areas it could be using more battery to keep a weak 3g signal alive. But on the whole it really wont make any difference.0 -
Ok thanks for that, I'll give Three a try in that case.0

Remember too that Three have an app called InTouch that uses your WiFi as signal if the 3G coverage is poor. It's in beta at the moment, search "Three inTouch" and you can sign up to try it. It's free.0

It depends how strong the signal is on your daily travels.
The past few smartphones i have had have always lasted towards the lower end of the battery tests done on them. But when upgrading and transferring data off the old phones onto the newer one i was shocked at how long the phones battery lasted with no sim in it.
Nokia N97 mini, Average battery 2 days in use. 7 days with no sim. Samsung galaxy S2 24 hours it would be ready for a recharge. 2 days if you didnt actually use it at all.
Same again a whole week without a SIM connected to the home wifi though.
I popped a Sainsburys sim in there and it lasts 5 days easily.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

I found this in the FAQs:Three inTouch with Skype & other apps.
Three inTouch isn't a peer to peer service like Skype or Viber. This means that you can use it to call or text any number, not just ones that are also on Three inTouch.
You can still use Viber and Skype while using Three inTouch.
If somebody calls your Three number using Skype, it’ll come through over Three inTouch. If your Skype username is connected with your Three phone number, then the incoming call will be directed to your Skype account and the call won’t come in over Three inTouch.0
