Yorkshire Bank Can't Confirm CPA's (Is this true?)

Bit flawed in that the CPA's would still need an initial transaction to go through which would then repeat in the future, but that would be blocked assuming you had reported it as lost\stolen accordingly.

Most would be for some form of service which could be tracked - highly unlikely a fraudster would get you to pay for there insurance every year...

I use my debit card on 100s of websites, gym membership, some sneaky companies have had a rule trail and then cancel but never informed me its a CPA. Some poker websites have been taking money out, 200 virgin media took out and then refunded it back. I don't have time to chase all these companies up.

See my previous post, I don't believe this is possible, what if you genuinely lost your card, and someone subscribed you to CPAs using your lost card, it wouldn't make any sense.

Typically, its you who CBA to read everything and authorise the CPA unknowingly as a result.
Some poker websites have been taking money out,
Why on earth would they do this if the money just gets credited to your poker account?

That's why now you can chase your bank instead.

Is this the only thing in your life that doesn't make sense?
Unauthorised CPA isn't different from any unauthorised card transaction.

Can someone in the banking sector confirm this? I could understand if the card had expired it might stay link for a short period of time, but surely a lost card, the old 16 digit number would become ineffective as soon as you tell the bank you've lost it. Because the previous CPA would tried to be processed on old 16 digit number.

OK, ring the bank up and confirm it. I'll tell them I've misplaced by card, (lost) will old CPAs if I have any, still be processed. Will report back shortly...

If you do authorise a CPA and then lose or 'lose' the CC, this doesn't stop the CPA. I think this is understandable and does make sense.

If a CPA (or any other payment) is set/made after the card was reported lost, bank can't know if wasn't authorised before reporting. Only you can tell this to your bank.

And no, there is no any difference between credit and debit cards in terms or aouthorisation and CPA.

OK, I was right just spoke to the call centre, and told them what would happen if I lost my debit card. The card would be suspended right away, and all CPAs on the previous card will not be honoured. As they're not direct debits or standing orders which wouldn't be affected. Whoever tried to process the CPA will simply write to me or contact me to update the details, i.e. that the payment has been declined just as if I didn't have enough money in my account or, that the card had expired.

You and the call centre are wrong, if you cancel/lose/report card stolen it will not stop the CPA, it will simply become attached to the new card.

Tell the companies concerned that you wish to cancel the CPA, tell your bank the companies you wish to be stopped from taking a CPA and go after both should payments continue to be taken.

CPAs are rarely fraudulent usually you have agreed to the set up even if it is by not reading the small print.

BTW if any of these CPAs are pay day loan companies you will stop them taking the money from your bank by cancelling the CPA but it won't cancel the debt...

Don't believe in everything a call center tells you.
Any payment that you authorised before reporting the card lost will be taken. Companies have up to 6 months to take any payment and have to chase you only if they failed to take the payment during this time.

Actually you're wrong. I've spoken to someone else, and he has also said to me, if I don't know about the CPAs it would be best to report the card lost. The companies in question will write to me. Also these are for services not for loans, or contracts, the service will simply be suspended if they don't receive the money.

I'll have to take it on the chin then I suppose, but I'll let you know next month. We will see. I checked my statements it's memberships, for subscription services. Some I know some I don't really know about like for dating website, never let a teenager use your card.
