Windows Hotmail problems!!

Hi
Has anyone else experienced recent problems with their Hotmail account?
In the past couple of weeks they have introduced some kind of security thing, which involves you needing a code to sent to your email address.
The problem is, when you go through the set pages to do this, it asks for a different email address to the one you are logged on with.
I had an old email address which appears, but I dont use that anymore, and it wont let me access that. But, when it gives the alternative option of not having an alternative address, and you press 'Next', all that happens is you go round in circles!
The upshot is although I can access my personal info, I cannot access my email account
Is there any answer to this?
Thanks

Try asking in the techie sub-forum
...but the long and short of it is that if you no longer have access to the alternative email address set up and no alternative security questions of some form setup to which you know the answers and no mobile No set up to send a text code to if they do this sort of thing then you are fcuk'd.
There are tales I've read on the techie forum of people with umpteen years stuff stored now unable to access though this sort of thing on Gmail/Hotmail.
Rule 1: do not rely on anything with is free and outside your control with no independent access to for storage of any critical data.0 -

Have your resolved your Windows Hotmail problems and can you now access your account fully?
Once using the linked email address does not work, and the alternative email address option is offered, you can answer that you cannot do that.
Microsoft then brings up a page on which you have to supply much information as possible about yourself and the email account, such as date of birth, post code, any previous passwords you recall, the contacts for any recent emails you sent, and the names of any folders in your account apart from the standard inbox, junk, drafts and deleted folders.
You also supply any working email address for Microsoft to contact you to say whether they are satisfied with the personal details you supplied and will restore your access to the Microsoft account, or whether you have to try again to give more personal information to identify yourself.
Microsoft inconvenienced me recently on a couple of email accounts with this issue, so once I had gained access to my accounts, I set each account to forward a copy of every incoming email to a Gmail account.
This means that my Microsoft emails are automatic backed up in the Gmail account, and also allows me to operate my Microsoft accounts entirely from Gmail, receiving and sending emails as if from the Microsoft accounts concerned.0 -
