Mrs Bowie, I would like to also know the outcome of this,
my daughter is currently doing her 2nd year of art & design..& like your son is considering doing a 3rd year.. which the college class as a level 3/4 foundation diploma 1 year course..0 -
The rules changed this year for when further education needs to be reported. Ctc ends on 31st August after the child turns 16. When you inform them of a course which qualifies, they presume its a two year course and pay up to 31st August after the 18th birthday. You then need to call each year if the level of education qualifies for tax credits.
It's designed to avoid overpayments caused by teens going off to university at 18 and parents not informing tax credits. Previously the teens were put back on up to their 20th birthday and if no changes were reported then overpayments happened.Anything I post on here is my own personal opinion, and quite likely not the view of my employer. My knowledge may not be up-to -the minute current, but I'll give you the best I can.0 -
My 18 year old daughter has just started a Diploma in media makeup course, which is classed as level 4 on the 2 year course she has been doing, but at a new college. will that qualify for CTC & CB ? as they have stopped them despite her being 18 and in full time further education, which I had informed them of ??
Any response welcome, as when I rang TC office they said they didn't need to inform us, if we had looked at our TC award, we would have seen that the CTC only went upto end of August !! very off hand woman who really couldn't be bothered, Is there anything I can do ?0 -
