Seen the posts now thanks. Just to clarify and could someone tell me if this course he is on qualifies for CTC? He left school and studied BTEC Sports level 1, then level 2 for which CTC was awarded. He then left college and is at "Total People" on a Level 1 Diploma in progression, Developing Employment Skills and Functional Skills in English and Maths. When you fill in the application it just ask is the child in Further Education, which we put "Yes" as we have a letter from total people saying what course he is on and how many hours he attends each week. We have never been asked to show HMRC this letter and are now worried that this course would not qualify us for CTC even though it is full time further education. Thanks for the replies to this new post. PS I don't know why Jimmy2Bellies has interupted my post as that answer is nothing to do with me!!!!
  • Thanks for the reply Blondebubbles my wife is going to ring them on Saturday morning. Parklife63 apologies for hijacking your thread. I was just looking for help like yourself.
  • Hi sorry to be a pest but I've just be on the Directgov tax credit page and found this

an advanced course - eg a BTEC Higher National Certificate or Diploma, a higher education course like a university degree.
These are the conditions that stop the claim according to their site.

I'm very confused as above it does mention the word Diploma.
Like I say sorry for being a pest.
  • Oh thank you for the prompt response and thank you for the advice.

Thanks for all the replies. So do I need to phone them Monday just to double check that he does qualify for what course he is on or do I wait until 1st Spetember and tell them he is still on it and further education? Jimmy2Bellies no problem, hope you get your's sorted as well. :)

Foundation degrees are usually Level 4&5 with a full degree being Level 6.
  • Hi just a quick update. My wife rang Tax Credits last Evening and said she believed that there had been a mistake regarding our Daughter. After a couple of minutes of answering questions we were told that there had been an error and indeed she still qualified. Thank you Blondebubbles for your help and advice.
  • Hi glad I found this thread, my son is on his 2nd year doing level 3 diploma art and design, we currently get WTC and CTC, he's just informed me that he intends to continue on this course in sept 2015, as he didn't realise he could do it for 3 years, he said the 3rd year is classed as a foundation course. My query is please, will we still qualify for WTC and CTC? Thanks
  • Thanks he said it equates to half a degree
