Overcharged for purchase

Because you paid by card, what was displayed on the card terminal when you keyed in your pin code? More a case of your fault for not checking at the time..
for a penny is it worth your time or our time to argue over.... always check what your putting your pin code in to pay for!..
I always check my receipts while still in the shop, except for this occasion as I was in a hurry and it was a pressie.
I did a big shop at a large supermarket last night, got charged £8.50 for some Duracell batteries (AA x 8 pack) which were clearly displayed at was £8.50, now £5.00
Went to C/Services, poor girl on her own with big queue waiting to swap shift couldn't get any staff member to check they were reduced so reluctantly gave me £3.50 refund so they were £5 (AS CLEARLY ADVERTISED IN BIG BLOODY CARD DISPLAY STAND). Never got any gift card for being overcharged or for them being in the wrong, not me.
Please note, THEY were in the wrong, not me.
Call me petty but I hate being wrongly charged, and treated like scum for querying it. This country is too soft and not enough people take a stand!

You've probably used far more that 1p worth of electricity to complain about the 1p overcharge.0

Nah, I'm at work
Anyway, thought this was a moneysaving website and forum, and FYI, 9 million people receive the Martin's Money Tips weekly email every Wednesday. Imagine if all those were "That's Entertainment" customers being wrongly overcharged?

You could report it to the Citizens Advice consumer helpline if you felt this was a deliberate scam, rather than just a one-off error. In fairness, if the company was doing this on every transaction then Trading Standards would probably intervene.
But I'd consider that very unlikely, they'd have to overcharge 10,000 customers to make £100. Even if only 1 in 1,000 customers complained it'd cost them more in staff to send apology e-mails out and issue refunds. And although most people might write-off 1p it'd probably irritate people that noticed and some of those might not return.0 -

Thankyou lucy03 for an excellent, clear, well drafted non-judgemental reply.
Much appreciated! :A0 -
Posting during your 'employers time' over a 1p overcharge?0

I am a wi-fi enabled rickshaw taxi operator working around Manchester City Centre, so have a lot of downtime, but get a nice fancy mobile (for maps) with free wi-fi from my boss.
Just having a rest again now, but with the Metrolink not running again, expect there'll be a mad demand again.0 -
So how much did the terminal have registered on it....you did check it when you put your pin number in it didn't you???
It's not mis-selling of goods, it is an overcharge. Have you checked their policy on min card spend (if they have one)?0 -
Update:
The store manager explained the till is not connected directly to the PDQ machine and the amount needs to be put into the PDQ machine after scanning it into the till - by the staff member, they explained this must be human error. It was explained to them that if this continued to happen it could be potentially be misleading pricing indication. They said they would speak to the staff member concerned and they also offered me a refund of the difference.
......I declined the 1p coin back

I once wrote a snotty letter to Tesco's having bought a 9 pack of toilet rolls which were on BOGOF (hmm, no pun intended), so bought two and was charged for two.
Tesco store manager sent me a package back, containing no, not the missing toilet rolls, but a folded up enormous special offer sign saying that they were 3 for the price of two.
Did I feel a dope!?
Not quite sure how relevant to this threat it is - but customers make mistakes as well!0
