Spotted this over on the parking boards;
Person visits Fantasy Island and pays for parking, unfortunately a slight error was made when keying in a registration number at the pay and display machine, and the ticket also became dislodged.
They then informed the parking contractor on what had happened - however instead of acknowledging these facts, and dropping the matter Fantasy Islands contractors have responded with this:

Thanks for your template latter dated 11th June 2014 and also refer to your comment made on “money saving expert”.
We are a small company only operating 1 pay & display car park and on this car park you are the only person we have written to in relation to an outstanding charge as the signage at this site is exceptionally good I note the incorrect digit in the number plate to witch you have refer to online.
The signage at the site is very clear that you must clearly display a valid permit and we presume you saw the signage as you have included a permit (albeit for a different vehicle) with your appeal.
I note from your comments online that is admitted the permit was not on display therefore according the term and conditions which you accepted by parking, the charge was correctly issued.
We agree that the charge claimed is not a genuine pre-estimation of loss but a contractual charge to which I have explained about.
Your claim our signage does not comply with ATA code of practice but fail to advice how you feel it does not - You also claim it was not sufficiently prominent to which is clearly not true as you claim a ticket was purchased so therefore you must have seen the signage.
You are again correct that we are not the landowner but you are incorrect that we so not have the legal standing to offer a contract, is well established that within our client contrast the sufficient rights are granted to us to both offer a contract for parking and to pursue the matter via the courts.
We enclose a redacted copy of the authorization page for you records.
An excerpt from page 2.
We also do not claim you have to name the driver, although by your internet post it is clear that you are the driver

Nice post, Half Way, good idea to spread the word before the Summer Holidays.
This does need exposing because of the parking firm they have chosen. This isn't a Private Parking Company (PPC) that people can ignore, neither is it one that's easy to beat at POPLA appeal stage - and COMBINED PARKING SOLUTIONS sue people.
This is not good news for FANTASY ISLAND Skegness if they reckon their contractor can issue parking fines (which they cannot, but try arguing against this lot). And if they believe this is a normal pay and display car park they'll soon learn, and so will families. Everyone should red the linked thread before replying because this isn't about real parking tickets for rogue parkers - this is about genuine visitors posting that their words have been twisted. This is a new parking regime and this is the first victim of the Summer, we know that because CPS said so in their letter, and made her feel very intimidated for posting on MSE about her predicament.
This will be a nasty situation for some people who visit from now onwards. Do not ignore the ticket if you get one, Complain to the Site Manger and don't stop until he gets it cancelled and realises the error of their ways in letting CPS on site.
Can't warn unsuspecting people enough about this, FANTASY ISLAND couldn't have chosen a more 'notorious' (to us lot on the parking board) parking company if they tried. If anyone gets a ticket which looks like a PARKING FINE AT FANTASY ISLAND, come and post about it on the parking sub-forum and complain immediately and repeatedly to Fantasy Island until they quash it. DO NOT be fobbed off to 'appeal' to CPS as that won't work and why should you, if a genuine visitor?
If people ignore a ticket or do a weak appeal they'll likely end up in small claims court over it - not quite what Fantasy Island intend for visitors, I suspect.
This is likely to get quite nasty for Fantasy Island pretty quickly - luckily for them there may be a quick solution as I believe CPS do not have a tie-in in their contracts. You know what you need to do, James and the management team.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
